They would change our current class structure and rules to the following drag racing based rules and classes to finally simplify sled pulling.

Bracket class: (Replaces current stock turbo and work stock class)
Any weight, any modifications are allowed. Your dial in would be your guess on how far you would pull. Closest to their dial in distance without going over wins.

Index class: (Replaces current 2.6 & 2.8 classes)
Any weight, any modifications allowed. Closest to 300' without going over wins.

Heads up class: (Replaces current Mod class)
Any weight, any modifications allowed. Run what you brung, furthest distance wins.

Dang, you'd have a lot of trucks in the index class needing body work as a lot of them would be needing to hit the brakes before they sail past 300'...

I get your idea, but obviously you know it isn't feasible.

^^^yea I agree, who would want to stop

:bang:bang If that ever would happen I Quit.
Mike you have to much free time on your hand go play with your truck

I have a solution, weight the sled more....

Bigger brakes on the sled....

But those rules suck.

you was just trying to wake evryone up. out of hibernation

I'm sure the body men would love the guys in the index class and maybe even the brackets. Could you imagine pullers with throttle stops and delay boxes lol.

*bdh*That would give sled pulling about the same fan appeal as a drag race.:badidea:

Pops ya beat me to it.

I can just see the tards gawking out the window looking back to see where the sled is, then hit the brakes, crash ouch. Amusing..:bang:bang:bang

:kick:WOW talk about stirrin the pot ,very well done!!!!!!

Here is a serious question from someone who knows zip about pulling. Please explain to me how they set up the sled between the different classes? I look at results and see at the same pull similiar distances between classes with vasty different power and weight levels. I assumed they set up the sled in the unlimited class so it transferred weight faster hence digs in quicker or something like that? So how exactly do they change it and how do they know they have it right so some truck doesn't pull the sled into the next county? Thanks.

Actually getting back to this thread, maybe should have them leave on a tree, dock them for x amount of feet for every 1/10 they are late leaving. That would sure make it interesting watching they try and spool up. Also why isn't NOS allowed in pulling?

they change the weight in the box that moves and most sleds have a transmission and can switch the gears so the box comes up faster or slower as well.

Good sled operators know their sled, read tracks well and know about how the trucks will do with a certain setting on their sled. Short story, they've done it a bunch and know how to set up their sled.

As to the on topic discussion... if pulling is to mimic racing, there has to be two lanes and times envolved somehow. Fastest to the 300 with equal weights and equivalent sleds, wins! Even have to have a slow down distance so that brakes aren't needed and get slammed from letting up at the 300'.
