I currently have a set of 33x12.50-16.5 BFG All-terrains on a set of outlaw style aluminum wheels.

I want to buy another set of nice wheels and tires before pulling season and I want to get a tire that will work well for different conditions. I have been looking at the TrXus STS tires which seem to be the hot ticket for pulling right now...but was wondering if my money would be better spent for a set of mud terrains since I already have a set of AT's.

Any insight?

M/T's are too agressive I think for pulling. Either they will just pull you down under your turbo or the break stuff. I would go with the STS's and go have fun.

STS all the way around? I was thinking STS in the rear with my current M/T's in front.

If you are set on a set off MT's, I see alot of Baja Claw's here in MO. I would only use 'em on a wet or loose track though. Like Kino said, MT's will break stuff if the rest of your driveline can't handle it...

The A/T are great for a hard track. For the wet tracks I think the thing to look for is a self cleaning tire like claws or pro-comps. Possibly a tire with large grooves between the tread. Large enough that there will be enough mass of the mud in between to get slung out as your tires are spinning.

I also like the Claw's when they get about 50% tread, then you buy another set and use the used ones for hard tracks.....

so would a toyo m/t be too aggressive ? Or would the toyo a/t be the ticket ?

For me it would be STS's for a hard track and a toss up between the Baja Claws and the Toyo M/T's for a loose track. I have seen both M/T's work very well on the loose tracks up here in the Wa. area.

I think I am going this route too possibly.

my truck is still gonna be a weekend driven street toy...my tires will be matching front and rear.

I think I might go with the STS, then sell all my BFG AT's and pick up some M/T's

Don't run the STS on the street. I know people who have gotten less than 15,000 out of them. Plus they rely on the edges being sharp to bite.

For the second set I would either get a 16" or 17" rim and tire set up.Alot more choices thant the old school 16.5" size.

yea it will most likely be 16" only reason i have 16.5 now is i got a steal on 7- BFG AT's and 4 rims for $400, and i had wanted 33" at's for pulling last year.

STS's are poop on the street atleast mine have been, they look bald already!

I have had excellent luck with my Pro Comp Xtreme AT's. Pretty decent on different track conditions and right now I have about 70,000 miles on them and quite a bit of tread left. But I think I am going to get a set of Baja Claws for the loose tracks and see how they do.

I have been thinking of running 285 pro comp at's for duals on the back and then 33x12.50 STS's up front

ive had the best luck with ss boggers i out them on backwards and let them wear down about half. this way there almost like a cepek pulling tire.

on dodge i run a 315/70/17 bfg at on the street and pulling 33-12.50-16 sts's
