If you were gonna have 2 sets of pulling tires...

the second gen dodge guys got lucky, the STS comes in a 33x12.50-16 which is a pretty uncommon size, but perfect for alot of pulling trucks.

now i just gotta sell my 35's

I had 33x12.50R15s on my Ranger, are the 16's that uncommon? Sounds like it would be a pretty common size...Not that I've looked at tires lately...

16.5's are a dying breed, 16's are all over the place they just use P-Metric numbers alot instead of standard size numbers:
~33x12.50-16
~305/70-16

I actually used Dick Cepeks FC-II's 315/75/16s for pulling. They seemed to be really adjustable depending on track conditions. They are an aggressive AT but not to agressive on the hard track. I liked them for pulling, plus I could drive home with them no problem (unless you hit a colvert.......:bang )

I run baja claws with about 30% tread left. to new of a claw will have a soft lug and will roll back when pulling. they work very well on a good track, your bfg's are the ticket on a loose or dry track.

the street tire? looking at them they look like they would have no traction in dirt

The Mickey Thompson Radial MTX has been the most used in our 2wd class. Everyone used to run the BFG AT's. THe old style that is. The newer style BFG A/T "KO"s have a weeker side wall and were blowing out left and right . I think the most we got out of them were 7 hooks before the side walls would get big knots in them and then pull apart from the rim and blow out. Of course we use tire screw to keep the tire from spinning on the rim. So then we were all on the search for a new tire to run. Mickey Thompson came down to Glasgow, KY for a tire test on the BAJA Claws. Both the Bias Ply and Radials were tested. The Radials were the best performers. THough they seemed to be the best tire at the test session, later on in the year we reallized they were digging too much and actually hurting us more than helping. So then we switched to the Radial MTX, and they have been performing flawlessly for the past 5 years. But now as Technology and tire designs have gotten better, the majority of use are going to switch again this year and run the Interco STS's. Me personally I am going to run the MT Radial ATZ's all the way around on my dually. 285/70 17's in the rear and 305/65 17's up front on single wheel rims. Should look and perform pretty good I think.
