I have a 01 and i am having problems with the converter going In and out of lock up at cruising speeds. I tried a noise isolator and it seemed to help a lot but its starting to get worse and worse again. I thought it was a ground but I have went threw and cleaned them up so now im clueless. I can honestly roll my power windows up or down and it will unlock my converter  please help ... thanks

check your trans relay and power to the fuse box at idle, it sounds like voltage drop is enough to drop out solenoid. possibly loose grounds to batteries too, out loose connector on transmission, if that doesn't do it, get a lockup solenoid in trans, while you are there get a governor solenoid and pressure sensor. will save a headache down road..

I will check the tap today and make sure it is making good connection. When I first put it on, it really did the trick so maybe it just wiggled loose and I will also go threw and check all my grounds again including the batteries.. thanks for the replies

My truck did it and couldnt figure it out. Bench tested the lockup solenoid and it tested fine. Put the trans back togather and it was still screwing up. Long story short heat in the trans messes with them solenoids. Replaced it with a new one and it works great

Well I tapped the wire again and took it down the road and it is working great again. It looks like the owner before me tried to install a lock up switch and cut the wrong wire (the apps wire) then they did a terrible job of soldering it back together since the wire came apart as I tried to tap it. So I will fix that problem and see if it makes a difference in the long run

This has happened to me quite a few times over the years. Might sound silly but someone suggested to me "electrical noise." I suck with electrical. I wired my trans gauge backwards that only had a power and a ground

anyways, I digress...

I was told to disconnect my battery cables for ten mins, put them back on and it hasn't happened in over a year :). Worth a try... I'd still like to know how electrical noise works lol.

elecrtical noise is from a voltage being induced into a wire not intended to have that voltage on it. in this case its from a ground wire that runs along the top and back of the altenator. move that wire away from the altenator...i loop it around the intake pipe.

So sort of the same idea as interference from another radio station? Or completely different because those are radio waves? lol.

i believe so, trying to create a shield, but if you don't have that aluminum grounded also it wont have any affect as the electricity won't have any place to go. Physical separation is the easiest, cheapest, best alternative I have found.

I ended up getting one of those noise filters and I just re tapped it again and now its working great lol but I have tried disconnecting the battery cables but it didn't really help me out that much.

holy effer my 99 is driving me crazy. The same issue as the original poster.
For two years it has been causing issues. The tranny shop has fixed it twice but it keeps coming back. Now like today its so bad, I'm not sure wtf to do.

Try a noise filter man... it was like 29 dollars shipped. I purchased mine threw jamie at cpp ... he was a good guy to deal with and I received it quick. It was a cheap way to fix the problem

Hmmm... never had to buy a noise filter and I never made foil hats for my wiring harnesses and grounds lol but next time it happens I'll know what wire to move. Guess I have less electrical noise than you guys! Glad I understand the idea of what it is a little better now though :thankyou2:

I wish I never had to mess with any of it but I guess its just a learning experience lol

Yeah. I'm electrically challenged and my dash lights & tail running lights just went out. So far I've determined that it's not a fuse and chasing this is going to SUCK. lol. Here's to experience...:nail:

Mine did it. Turned out to corrosion INSIDE the battery cables themselves! Had to make new cables but solved the issue.
