Did the 02 trucks ever come with an in tank pump from the factory? Im gonna buy an airdog kit but they have a kit for in tank pump and non in tank pump trucks. The truck im putting it on has an in tank pump but im not sure if its factory or not. I dont know which airdog kit to buy. The truck has an hx40 and soon a smarty. It needs a good fuel sytem now. I test fuel pressure at only 7psi idle.

In-tank pumps were Dodge's fix to the failure of the lift pump that was on the side of the block. AFAIK, they all came with the lift pump on the side of the block and went to an in-tank pump when it failed.

Welcome to the life of 1/4 tank issues. LOL. The 02's were factory with the pump up front and retrofitted to the intank POS when they came in for work. You don't need that piece. I put a FASS on mine and tried all kinds of tricks to reduce the 1/4 loss of fuel pressure on corners and hard stops but am still fighting it. Thanks Dodge for a non-baffled tank. :D

When you go from the factory 25gpm or what ever it is to a 95 or 100gpm, the module can't hold enough fuel to keep the pressure up long enough to turn a full corner when the fuel is low.

PureFlow's new fuel module upgrade kit pretty much eliminates 1/4 tank issues. If you order the AirDogII it comes with the upgrade kit.

Anyone got photos and description of how it works? Does it replace the whole deal or just a new tube or something?

With the fuel module upgrade kit the air return does not go into the fill tube, it returns into the original draw port. Dumping all return fuel into the module is the biggest reason this kit works so well.

It's a kit that comes with detailed instructions and a new 1/2" id tube that you need to install in the fuel module.

I was wondering about the airdog II. I saw it on there website but havent seen it yet on any dealer sites. Would i need the 100 or 150.

Unless you are going over 600hp, I'd think the 100 would be adequate. $.02

Funny. I put a 1/2 id tube in and returned the fuel to the module too...and still no worky. Sorry for the Hyjack 02, just thought you might want to be advised so you don't have issues.

Fuel Tank Module Mods for FASS Install - Competition Diesel.Com - Bringing The BEST Together

The PureFlow kit uses a flexible tube and leaves the check valve in the bottom of the module so that it holds return fuel in the basket for recirculation whereas the FASS kit does not.

I had a customer drop his truck off here for me to install just a PureFlow module upgrade kit. After the install I tested it to the extreme, I put 3 gal of fuel in the tank, drove the truck until it ran out, dumped 5 gal in out of a can, drove about 6 miles to the nearest filling station and put 28.3 gal in the tank to top it off. Do the math, it was a 34 gal tank.

I see they have an airdog II limited addition and a regular airdog II kit. There is to many kits to choose from.

I build mine from scratch and also left the check valve. I must have not got it back right or something. For some reason, the reserve is not there or that the 95 pump drains it very quickly.

This is what you need. The wire harness will plug in at the oem plug near the ecm and it comes with the fuel module upgrade kit.

Ok, thanks guys for the help.

Please explain.....

One big issue with the drawstraw is sucking air when you are on a hill or are going around turns, etc and relatively low on fuel. If you were to use a sump that draws from the bottom of the tank, this would alleviate some of this headache.
