hi, just picked up a silver bullet from a member on here. how in the heck are you supposed to adj the waste gate when there is no nut welded on the rod? and when did industial quit shippin em like this? this turbo is not supposed to be very old, 5k miles etc - i am thinking bull

its got no in/out play and normal side to side, but the waste gate not being adj pisses me off

and of course dude didnt mention it before the purchase...

how far apart do i have to take this thing to make it adjustable?

thanks, don

Look at the boost elbow. It has an allen head screw on it. That's how you control the boost. Twist the screw in and it raises the boost. Twist it out and it lowers the boost.

yup boost elbow, turn allen screw one way or another. id say a few screws in would do just fine.

haha, funny

all that does is control how much the boost spikes before settling, right?

the only way to change the spring pressure in the actuator is to turn the rod and without a nut i dont see how that can be done

or are you guys serious? changing the size of the orfice in the elbow will change max boost? i dont see how it would? no matter how big or small you make the orfice boost is gonna equalize on either side and you still gotta overcome the spring to open the gate

right?

don

I've got the same turbo,so does this mean I can't adjust the waste gate??

the line hooked to the elbow also hooks to the wastegate! if its set to open at 45 lbs boost with the screw backed out some, when you screw it in some it will only see say 35 lbs at the same pressure as before, therefore raising your boost level and keeping the gate closed longer.

yea, i see it now, it has a another orfice to bleed some of the pressure to atmosphere

that means you can raise your boost by screwing the allen in

but you cant lower the boost and thats what i want to do

pretty much...have you tried to turn the rod that screws into the actuator?

not an easy task

guess i am gonna have to take it all apart and weld a nut on the rod

what a joke

thanks for the info

don

will do

thanks

and i see how it works now, didnt see that it had a small bleed orfice before

it still works in conjunction with the spring in the actuator tho...and i want to be able to adj that

i raise and lower mine all the time with that screw....well, i con bgbldodge to do it so i dont have to get dirty. it takes lots of turns tho

when i adjusted mine i had to take off the E-clip on the wastegate rod and then spin the rod in, it spins easy, its just a pain to get the clip back on when its in the truck, on the bench its easy. hope this helps some

Thats the same thing I did, I had to use air to get the rod hooked back up with the turbo on the motor.

ED has a waste gate actuator that works pritty good. Uses just a spring and a long bolt that connects to the waste gate leaver. Seems to be working a whole lot better than the plunger style i have had in the past. Plus your not regulated on how much the plunger moves. With their setup the drive pressure blows the gate open depending on how tight the spring is at the bolt.

Never tried it yet but was going to! How many turn should a guy turn the rod? Already got the allen screw turned up!

Wasn't it something like 2-4 turns brought it down 5 or so psi? I can't remember exactly.

I had the same problem. I ended up snaping the rod trying to get the end loose. So I cut about 1 1/2 off and put a small turnbuckle in there with lock-nuts on each side. Got rid off that POS elbow, now I can lengthen, shorten the rod in seconds
