After some miles on my new Big Stick i have extreme egt s. At 70mph on the highway i am at 7lbs boost, 1950 rpm, and 800 degrees on the pyro.(give or take) With the smarty only beta 4.2 #5,7,9 it see s 1600 with the foot on hard in about 30 sec from a roll 50mph. No smarty and i can hold 650 degrees and will not get higher than 1000 deg. If i add a bit of dial on the MP8 the egt s start to rise beyond 1000 deg. Zack suggest to check my timing and the overhead adjustments. They are good. I have a pic of the timing marks. I know the top end is properly adjusted as well. Also suggested that i may have a boost leak. I can hit 40 psi fairly easy with some tune so i think that rules that out. He also stated maybe my turbo is undersized now... I notice power with the cam. The only other thing i notice in the neg is my vac pump stays running. Whats the deal with that.It is on the pass side fire wall and it is loud. So any suggestions. :bangI want twins now but i gotta re coop some funds. Any suggestions!!?? Does anyone wanna let me try their 66mm turbo to see if i need more air. Prob not, huh.

I attached photos of my intercooler with the holes in it.. I was still hitting 45psi with them like that.. :Cheer:

Also, just because your making 40psi of boost with a 62 doesn't mean its still not undersized. 40psi of boost with a 62 is a lot less air than 40psi of boost with a 66. I'd check for a boost leak just to be sure. What were your egt's like before the cam?

1600* in 30secs from a 50mph roll is a bad thing? I can hit that in half that time with my cam with my quad on level 3. I'd say that the fact that it takes you that long to hit those egt's is a very good thing.

And I'm not to sure on the 3rd gens but my vacuum pump runs as long as the engine is running cause its driven off of the engine.

i drive a stock 04.5 from time to time and it hits 1250* with no mods at all...i would say 1000* with no fueling and taking that long to hit 1600* with the fueling turned up is pretty good. ive never stayed at WOT for 30 seconds straight tho, so i dunno how high mine would get.

X2. Sounds like you dont have anything to worry about. My puller will hit 1600+ in about 10 seconds.

Ok, so maybe 30 sec is a bit longer than it actually takes. My intercooler is brand new. My egt s before with stacked tunner it would get to 1250 1300 on a wot mile hill. As far as my vac pump it runs even with the motor off key on.

What do you have a vacuum pump fore?? 3rd gens dont come with them stock?? Exhaust brake?

Has the weather changed a bit since last time you ran the stacked fueling vs today with the cam and stacked fueling?

Going from freezing temps to 60*F makes a huge difference in EGT's.

the only reason your vacuum pump is running all the time is because you have a leak in the thin plastic hosing. don't ask me how i know. Doooh!
