Intermentant start help

Friend bought a 01 , trying to run down a problem. Usually it starts cold first fire and will run for 3-5 min and shut off. If you crank it after it shuts off it will just crank and crank and not fire. If you pull the battery terminals off and put them back on it will fire up ( sometimes ) . ???
Thing is for the time the truck is running it runs great/ throttle response. ect.

What I do know is...

Good fuel supply
0215 IP cont. circuit
1689 No comm. between ecm and IP
1698 No ccd message recieved from pcm

I'm looking at what I should check before IP replacement.

Like ... your 100% sure of this. If it is , ok great and truck is fixed. Just don't want to see the guy buy a pump and still have the same problem.

Might be VP44 Time, but 100% sure? Not me.
There is a relay you could check in the fuse panel. Switch it out with another relay in the panel and see what happens.

Ahh freak. Ive been busy. Playing with the truck has taking a back seat to many other things.
