Ive been enjoying the site for a few weeks now so I figured it was time to make a thread for my truck. Ill start with a few pics of what my friends call "overly diverse" collection of projects/stuff. I like diversity and am interested in most anything that has a motor.

I hope this is the right section for build threads. I just picked up a new project a few weeks back and have already made some good progress on it. The previous owner claimed he was building a 2wd 2.6 puller. Its a 1999 3500 2wd. Here is a quick mod list.

The motor has roughly 5k miles on it as does the trans and rear end.

New 5.9L block and head from Cummins
Carrillo rotating assembly, Mahle pistons, ARP 12mm studs, Fire ringed head
P pump conversion 12mm, Colt cam.
Airdog 215 (supposedly modified)?.
Compounded twins S364 and s488, 5in to 6in stainless exhaust
Ported head and 3 piece DPS manifold.
NV5600 with billet input/output and upgraded sychros
Haisley 3850 twin disk clutch
Dana 80 rebuilt with 4.10s
With a larger pump he claimed almost 900whp. The fuel setup I got from him made 758whp.

The catch: It pushed a small peice of headgasket out of the front of the motor creating an external oil leak only. ( no fluid mixing or doodoo butter). The body is a little rough but useable and its a SLT Laramie :rockwoot:

I pulled the head this past weekend and have just been cleaning surfaces since then. I ordered a gasket kit from Haisley with the fire ringed gasket, but ordered the wrong diameter on previous owners word. The correct ones are in the mail now that I measured them myself. Im also waiting on the ceramic coating to show up so I can coat the exhaust stuff.

The forum has shown to be extremely knowledgeable so far. I figured this was the best place to keep up with my rebuild along with receiving input from people who are more experienced with high hp diesel vehicles than I am. That being said Im looking forward to getting this thing on the road!!!

The truck had previously broken a stock cam when the clutch gave and over reved. I assume thats how the valves were introduced to the pistons. Other than that the cylinder walls look great.

Nice truck. I'm looking to run a pump and turbo setup like yours eventually on my truck. Are you planning on making it a puller or a hot rod street truck? And how well does that engine setup do on the street? Thanks and good luck with the new project truck!

If you move the dip stick 3" to the right on the other side of the weld on your intake elbow and zip tie it in place, It will stop breaking off the "T" handle off when you shut the hood. LOL
Ask me how I know.

I seriously doubt a few of those components are in that truck

They may not be. Everything has been accurate up to this point. The drivetrain was in the previous owners 2wd puller chassis which was much nicer. When it was rebuilt they put it in this "farm truck" chassis for break in. Then got tight for money and left it, so he says. We will see!

It was already broken when I got it! Its mounted to the head now.

I havnt actually driven this truck on the street yet. Getting close though. Ill be sure to post some vids when I do.

I used Cerakote High Temp Black Velvet air cure coating. It covered well and finishes smooth.

I decided to both diesel turbos and the exhaust housing for the rx7 which looks microscopic compared to the T6 BW.

Im VERY pleased with the product so far. I guess ill see how it holds up to some high egt's soon.

And made some shop wall art with an extra t4 housing I had. Id sell it if anyone needs it.

Made some decent progress on thursday and a few hours last night. Got the head on and the turbos/exhaust stuff hung.
Don't hate on the purple. :homo: Its a random color but I think it will look....different...... when its all done. It could be easily changed so why not?

Im going to sand the paint off the "24v cummins turbo diesel" when the paint hardens then clear it.

Next is timing the P pump. There are several "how to's" on this. Is there an alternative to the $70 delivery valve socket?

The injectors are 7x0.016
Stainless 0.93 lines
Turbos are s364 and s488

From the research Ive done, it looks like 20 - 22deg of timing is about what it needs. I could be wrong though.

I did something similar to what your talking with your valve cover. I DAed it and let the DA leave swirl marks in it. I think it looks pretty sharp.

Thats a good idea. I always thought sanded raw metal looks awesome. Then clear it of course.

Waiting on the timing tool to come in now. Then its timing the pump and setting the rockers.:rockwoot:

Finally got it running this weekend! I used some timing tape on the balancer to get the timing set. It should be at 25* now. It runs smooth and idles great but does make some white-ish gray smoke almost like a haze. It smells like fuel but im not 100% sure yet as I have not driven it. It has a small radiator leak and I have not rigged up a shut off cable yet. Im missing the lever that attaches to the fuel cut off peg as well. Hopefully next weekend it will be road worthy.
I will try to get a video of it running tomorrow and hopefully that will help diagnose the smoke. It could just be the size of the injectors and pump but id like to be sure. Would the added timing cause a white haze at idle?

Im working on fabbing up some hard pipe to eliminate the blue silicone couplers. It clashes with the purple!
