I got a guy with a 6.5 turbo diesel that needs a new IP. I was wondering how easy it is to switch these pump out. Is lining the timing marks back up all that hard? I don't usually touch these engines but he help me with Bio so I feel I should help. Any advise would sure help.

Just mark on the timing chain cover with a scratch awl of the original timing then be sure you install all the lines in the same place. Other than that, it is pretty cut and dry.

You might want to take the timing to -1.50. That will give the computer more advancement to dig into at full throttle. Heath Diesel, SSDiesel, and Kennedy all recommend -1.94 when a performance computer is installed. Even when you dont have a tuned ECM, you can still run with the -1.94 and get better drivability.

Hope this helps,
Tony
