Is the intake sensor needed?

Does the air sensor in the factory intake(right after the filter box) need to see airflow to function properly or can I just leave it plugged in and hanging? Everyone I talk to has a different opinion...

Thanks:charger:

if thats hangin and the outside air temp is below 40 wouldnt it keep the grid heater clicking on

The grid heater disables at 15 MPH or a certain RPM iirc.

ya but the turbo heats up the intake air......even if its 40 outside the turbo is going to heat air hotter than that

so the intake air sensor inside your intake manifold is going to read boosted air temps, if its hanging outside all it will ever think is that your intake air is outside temp

It's right behind the air filter, not in the charge air tract. It does not matter where it is.

What he said.. The inlet air temp sensor is upstream of the turbo. It's getting outside pulled past it.
