I got on the track for the first time in Ennis, TX this weekend. I just ran in test and tune. I have a 5 speed with 285/75/r16 toyo open country m/t and an edge comp and a flatbed and full front replacement bumper. I made three runs. I reved it up and dumped the clutch in second gear off the line(4x4 high) shifted to third at 2600rpm and shifted to fourth at 2600rpm and ran fourth out to 2900-3000rpm going threw the lights.

1. By my self-
R/T- .622
60'- 2.340
330'- 7.268
1/8- 11.428@59.37mph
1000'- 14.994
1/4- 17.976@75.50mph

2. Against a 3rd gen white dodge that blew by after I missed third gear
R/T- .604
60'- 2.314
330'- 7.576
1/8- 11.803@58.82mph
1000- 15.372
1/4- 18.335@76.16mph

3. I ran against my friends 3rd gen dodge 6 speed with a quad box and I WON!!!! By .1475 sec. It was his slowest and my fastest run but I didn't let him forget that I still won.

Is this about normal for a second gen manual with a comp?? It left real hard at the line, it seemed to leap out in front fast.

Your 60' times are a little weak. You should be able to shave .1 to .2 off that, maybe try letting the clutch out a touch slower so you don't bog the motor.

You can no lift shift on 3-4, just push the clutch in, slam it into 4th, and let the clutch out.

I cannot get my truck to make the 2-3 shift with any kind of speed. It seems no matter what I try, it grinds or just wont go.

You will probably net faster times if run out 2nd and 3rd gears to 3200 or so. I know the comp defuels before then but starting 3rd gear under 2k rpm bogs the motor too much.

I think if try a few different things in your 1/4 mile race, your truck has 16's in it.

Thanks for the advise! I was real nervous LOL. I will give it a try! I plan on sticks and air down the road. I thought about trying to do a boosted launch but with my leg shaking from nerves and adrenaline, I didn't think I could hold it at the line.

I want to hit 13.999 but we'll see, I have three runs in 14.40 range about ten 14.5-14.7 but can't seem to shave off that last 4 tenths.

It's getting to the point now that my tranny shifts a little funny after track nights, I think my synchros don't like all the racing so I might call it quits and just drive like a normal person.

I really think 15 flat is doable for a 5speed with stock turbo and fueling upgrades like Adrenaline and injectors.
