Pulled the pump off my 89' this morning to replace the o ring on the afc pin, it's been leaking diesel out of the vent for about a year and starting to get worse. While I was tearing it apart I decided to pull the front cover to see if the dowl pin is tabbed, just wondered while im right here should I jump a tooth on the pump gear? I've got a 3k gsk, straight piped, full power screw is about 1/8-1/4 from runaway although I was thinking of backing it off some in an attempt to get rid of some idle haze, motor is otherwise stock.

I wonder what ill effects of taking the pump to the head is? On my 92, stock CTD? I did notice the tourque curve is lower, and at 1900 - 2000 rpms, on highway driving, my mpg suffered some compared to 1750-1850 rpms? Anything else, starting, longivity, etc?

Jump a tooth then adjust the pump to where you feel you like it after that. Each truck/pump reacts different
