Hey Guys,

This is the 2nd forum that I am on for my pick up. The other forum is just a Dodge forum.

My pick up is a 1996 Dodge Ram 2500 CTD 4x4 Automatic. This is my 2nd Dodge and I love these trucks. As of right now it is completely stock. Just played with the air/ fuel ratio to gain a little more response. This truck is my daily driver and want to some day put a little bigger injectors and fuel plate in it along with a transmission upgrade.

Soon I will have a 91.5 to 93 Dodge Ram CTD Standard Cab, to build a pullin' truck.

Around here there are 4 cylinder diesels being daily driven with more rear wheel hp than the average 12v-6B

Welcome!

Its only stock because I just bought it a few months ago and have no $$$ at the moment to put into it!

FYI- This is the deep end of the pool.

Welcome to Comp D. :welcome:

Are there sharks in said pool?

I know 180 horse and 420 torque isn't much for you guys but it runs on fuel!

As opposed to running on hopes and dreams or pretty ponies:poke:.

Sorry, had to.

:welcome:. The search button (upper right of your screen) is your friend, use it a lot. There are a ton of great threads to read through.

Welcome!

If you do get a 1st Gen, hit me up for any info you might need. Pulling is expensive so find a cheap truck. 1st Gen's aint cheap anymore for a decent looking one.

What class(es) do you plan on pulling? 2.6" or less you can get away with the VE. Otherwise just buy a 2nd Gen 12v and graft a 1st Gen body on it.

If you do plan on buying a 1st Gen, look hard for a 89-91 Non IC. Better start than IC'd 1st Gens..

The 1st gens are getting expensive! But I love them, I want to do a restore puller job on it. Puller first then restore. I plan on pulling it in the 2.6 class and would love to be competitive with just a VE. But I will definitely get ahold of you for some info. I was already heart set on an IC motor but if thats not the way to go I wont. Whats the reason?

If I can make 400 to 500 horse I think I can.

Its set up as well as power, man. I know I am probably preaching to the choir but it really is. My dad pulls a bone stock 350 CAT, injector pump turned up, rpms turned up and about 4,000 lbs lighter than everyone else and we continue to be competitive. We hang with the big V8 Macks, electronic CATs and some or less tuned KTAs. We may not win all the time but we always place. And its all in the set up and the way we drive the truck. So I am sure I can make a VE compete!

You can't make a VE truck compete in 2.6 unless you just play at local pulls with crappy trucks.

400hp competing in 2.6?LOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOL

Unless that VE is blessed by the diesel gods it wont be competetive in 2.6.

400-500hp...VE pump...2.6...competetive- Good luck you'll need it.

I will have to agree with the newb on this: a good setup will make up for some horsepower, but not 400-600 hp, that's just crazy!!!!!
