Kickdown

Mad Mike, I fought this many years ago to make it right for me.....long story! I changed the V/B springs a few times to get the shift points up, TV was just short of bottoming out (running it bottomed out creates a 2-3 shift hang) base line pressure is at 100 psi, 155 WOT, adjustable voltage regulator is at 4.8-.4.85 volts then came the POT mod, good stuff, it's all basted on where you want your shift points but it cured all the issues with that TPS piece of crap.

Yeah, if I bottom out my TV, I get 1-2 shift flare bad unless I'm WOT, and 2-3 hangs, and all the shifts actually soften up.

I'm gonna lower the TV pressure and play with that VB adjustment, and that'll probably be as much as I try on the DD. I was doing the POT for a while when my stock TPS died, but that didn't help anything at all except the premature lockups. Then a new VB, which helped shifts a lot, but still shifts early. So now I'm running a new TPS, and I check it regularly with a diagnostic.

I'd like the shift points to be 10, 20, 30. Right now they're 10, 18, 20 (with TV maxxed out). I just don't like being in OD at 20. I also don't like it not kicking down unless I come to a complete stop or floor it.

I ended up having to use vice grips, so exact turns isn't known, but it ended up at least 5, less than 7. So I'm figuring 15-20psi. So far the only noticeable effects is that idle is a hair lower in gear now, shifts are a little firmer, but not raised any, and kickdown didn't change at all. And the 1-2 flare is gone. Should I raise the TV pressure again?

Also took the oppurtunity to add some universal tractor hydraulic/atf, a little more than 1:1. I noticed too that there was probably half a teaspoon of metal dust on the magnet.

Quick question: is the tv lever proportionate to the pressure set by the vb, or is it extra pressure? Do you understand what im trying to ask? LOL
