kill switch

i dont know but the big boys use it. However i have never seen one be used while at full boost and running down the track at high rpms.

well i guess thats what happen to the tractor we sponser it was at full song and broke away and the flaped closed taking out a one of the turbos

I want to do something like this too. Our local puller's association requires a shutoff at the rear of the truck in case it breaks loose from the sled. I have not been able to figure it out.

Could you use a trailer brake breakaway switch and short that white wire to ground? I believe the ECM sends 12V through the fuel shutoff wire the pump to kill fuel. Maybe do the same with the breakaway switch?

Fuel shutoff wire is useless. I cut it on my 02 and it did nothing truck ran the same and turned on and off the same as before i cut the wire.

Just find the ignition hot wire for from the key switch under the dash. It would be jsut like turning the key off. You can probably search around on the net and find a diagram for a remote start. It would be just like turning the key off. Use your kill switch to control the coil of a 30 amp automotive relay, and put the ignition hot wire on the contacts.

I think i might be able to find that in the wireing diagram i have let me go look.

i will have to play around with that to use for a kill switch one thing bad with a air shut off if turbo is at full song and closes that isnt good for it right?

Taking out a compressor wheel or snapping a turbo shaft should be considered minor if it saves you from killing a flagman or stuffing the truck into a crowd of spectators standing trackside as it comes loose. A huge crowd saw one break loose at TS as the flagman just got out of the way and that wasnt even a runaway, just a broken hitch. People gripe and grumble about doing it and even look for ways to short cut it. Its not a matter of if its going to happen, its a matter of when. Hopefully when it does no one has to live with the fact their short cut didnt cut it. $.02
