knock after head gasket

This last time I fire ringed the head and put arp studs in. Motor had a knock in it so I pulled it apart one more time. The only thing I see is a very light scuffing on the no. 6 cylinder wall. You can barely see it. Motor rolls over real easy with no grabbing or hard spots. If the piston is scuffed could this cause a knocking noise? I'm about lost on this motor.

Figured it out, no. 6 piston barely slapping the head. I haven't pulled it yet, hope the crank ain't hurt.

I'm going to pull it thursday, hoping the crank is alright. It turns over real easy and had good oil pressure so I'm sure the rod bearing ain't hurt too bad. Best would be a wrist pin bushing gone.

Ya, this is head gasket no. 6 I think in the last 8 weeks but when I look in the mirror the guy to blame is looking back at me.

Glad to see you finally got yours mostly done. That's some real horse power you are putting down. I would like to have just the power you have with the plate slid.

Thanks, im sure you will get yours worked out also.. and when your ready im sure kevin will set you up. couldnt believe that the plate from the middle to forward made 250hp.. looks like im going to have to go ahead and get a dyno combo going to see what i can make now..

Got it apart today, no 6 piston messed up. It has a couple of small scratches and two small spots of aluminum on the cylinder wall. I'm going to hone all the holes.

I can either put a good used piston I have in and do a ring and bearing job or I can buy a rebuild kit for around 525. This is a tractor rebuild kit with the big bowl pistons that have the ring down farther like the early non intercooled piston. Either way I have to buy a fire ring head gasket again. My buddy says he can get the marine pistons but aren't they lower compression?
