lets build a towing engine......@ 500hp

Ok, so I wound up with a S474 and a W1HC. That was supposed to have been a 471, eh, oh well.

Ported the hell out of the gate on the little thing, got most of my stuff ready.

Im trying to figure out how much my head has been shaved, and the same on my block. Id like a bit higher that OE compression to up the bottom end some.

So as of now:

WH1C/S474
887 pump with a 4GSK and the first plate I lay hands on
H2 cam
Still with some 275RV's
Oringed head is still to be picked up
Timing @ 18*
And 2 stages of water on HOBBS switches just in case....

do you mean a wh1c????

what happened to the 35 or 35/40?

how about adding some real injector, ditch the little girl stix, and give them to cenia for her first cummins.

also i tow with my truck all the time, it doesn't even haze once its warmed up unless some punk in a mustang wants his doors blown in by a work truck with a trailer behind it.

I made 460hp with rv275's w/ less air than he is going to have. And that was at 5200' elevation.:st:

Do the cam,twins,4k gsk and do fire rings and the the cam plate and see where u stand I wouldn't go crazy with the fuelin if ur gonna get good milage and reliabilty. Not sure on the timin though

I made 474 with 275rv's and a single 66. I'd think that a set of twins would be great with a 215 pump for a 500hp tow truck.

I'm talking about 500hp and tow 15k at 1200*

18 degrees might be a little much on the timing i think i would go 16.5 or so... just me though. I think the rest of the set up sounds pretty good i think you should be able to tow really well with that and it should light quick. you might not even need the meth

Upon thinking about it the 18 degrees might be ok, i just like to run 16.5 because of my high altitude 18 might be alright at a lower altitude

i tow with 21° and love it

but my race trailer is not very heavy either...

typically roll the scales at 22-22.5k#

i think max timing depends on injectors/piston combo and driving habits

with stock 2nd gen pistons and ddp 4's i could not tow with 21°

well, guess i coulda....but it would not have lived very long

wh1c, w1hc, what ever. I thought that was an early HX35 in the shop, turns out to be a WH1C. No big deal, basicaly the same thing.

My thinking is that the 275's with the proper tuning will atomize better than a set of 150's and still make the power I want.

I think those injetors are seriously under rated for performance applications.

curious how long the h1 will live

arent you?

whats he gonna do? run 2 or 3 of chris's gates infront of it?

can not picture that turbo liking all that fuel

one thing is for sure...he wont have any lag issues

lol

I dont see this being very different from a HX35/HT3B combo.

275's are only a 30-40hp over a stock injector.

sounds like ur headed towards an easy 500hp, it should be very clean and quick spooling.
