Let's see your pullin hitches!!!

If you want I have one for sale in the ford for sale section that will fit on your truck. The pic that I have is not the greatest but it bolts on to your factory holes. Let me know if you are interested. I am sick of tripping over that thing.

hmm, i would buy it but shipping would be a b1tch and i would kinda rather make it myself. though, i will go look at it.

Shipping from most people is bad because they try to mark it up. Shipping from me to you would only be like $30. I get a real good deal on shipping. Let me know.

When Cantalevered like that the Shank tends to bend behind the gussets even though its solid 2x2. It'll bend but usually won't break

Thats kinda what I was afraid of. I just didn't want to add the large ass gussets and move it farther back from the rear axle after all the damn work of moving the hitch forward. I wish my damn hitch was not so low.

Hey guys... im by no means new to truck pulling... but im seeing that everyones hitches are really "short" or close the truck.... why is that??? i know that having one stick way out will pull down on the rear end more, but it will also act as more leverage to pull the front end up?? am i right on that?? i made my self a pulling draw bar last year, ill take some pictures when i get home in 2 weeks and see what kind of feedback i can get from it

Thanks,
Andrew

andrew...... you are right on the longer length of the draw bar being in your advantage. in our club you are allowed to have your drawbar 36% of the wheelbase.....133"=47.75" drawbar. (133" is for our modified trucks-180" for our desiels) so if these guys are not using that to their advantage-->:bang...................................................................but you probably knew that eh?

Its so its so its as close to the rear axle as possible or allowed by rules. this decreases the amount of tetertoter effect, and lessens the pull down affect on the rear witch means more weight staying on the front and more forward traction since your using all four wheels to pull rather then two.

From the ground to the bottom of my hitch is 24" so, It made it easy to have the pintle ring @26". It easy when the back of the truck is a lot higher than stock. I achieved this with a hefty spring pack

huh?......you dont want any weight on your rear end...id say being straped to 40,000 lbs is enough weight on the rear end. correct me if im wrong, but ive never seen one rule on keeping the hitch point over the rear end....(cuz you would be an idiot for doing that) the rules prevent you from sticking your hitch too far out over the rear end.....thats because the LONGER the drawbar the more ADVANTAGE you have......right?

I never said anything about putting any weight on the back of the truck. and I don't really understand what you are trying to say with the hitch being over the axle or out over it. But to me it makes sense to get the hook point of the truck as close to or forward of the rear axle center line this way as I said the tetor toter affect is lessened from the sled pulling down on the back end of the truck. witch doing so leaves more weight on the front tires and should give you more traction.

The closer the hitch is to the rear axle, the better. Period. Most rules will state that the hook point must be past the rear of the truck bed.
