Howdy folks,
I think my stock fuel system is finally becoming overmatched. I'm looking for some suggestions of pumps that I could use in a fuel system. I work at a truck shop so I already have a filter base for a fleet guard FS1000 filter with 1/2" inlet and outlets, and have all of the lines and fittings I need. So I'm just looking for a pump I could use as a lift pump for this system, that would flow around 60psi and 120GPH. I'm in college so I'm trying to avoid spending to much is why I'm not buying an airdog, but I'm hoping a set up like this would work similarily, and the only cost I'd have in it is the pump. Thanks for any suggestions.

Anybody? I know most people will say just to go with an airdog, but with college starting in a month my budget isn't near what it used to be, I just want to get the truck back to running properly again, and all I'd have in it this way is the cost of the pump.

do any of you's think this pump from Flojet would work. It makes 2.2 GPM at 60 PSI, wich is about right, I just don't now if it'd handle fuel.

Duplex II DC Demand Pump > Agriculture > Industrial > Flojet - ITT

I've heard of people using them with success, their site says they have three versions with the internals made of different chemical resistant materials, I see no reason it would not work, call up their customer support and see if they have one fuel oil resistant.

Why not try a pusher pump feeding the stock lift pump? That way you don't have excessively high idle pressure but you still get the pressure ramp up for WOT high rpm blasts.

Keep the stock pump there and just run another lines to dual feed the pump. I would run an A1000. Some buddies of mine run this on their 12 valve and have wired on a toggle switch. Pullin or racing, they run it but on the highway they dont.$.02

you can prolly get four used holley blue pumps for less than 200 bucks

plumb one into each corner of ur p-7100 and if two or three of em burn up no biggie

If you get the Duplex II pump get the one with viton valves and diaphram...

1.6gal/min = 96gal/hr

well my stock lift pump is all but junk, so I'd have to replace it anyways. Also I was reading on another thread, about a truck having a stutter at low rpm, and the issue was resolved by adding an airdog, and he contributed it to the pulsations of the lift pump. My truck has a stutter at about 1200 rpm all the time now, so I'm hoping to test his theory and see if an electric pump would resolve my issues. I plan on running one of Joe Hellmans sumps on my tank instead of a draw straw so I'm hoping that may help me as well. So is Viton the type of rubber I should be looking for in a pump? Thanks for all of the help.

So basically the way I'm looking at this is if you folks think that duplex pump I posted with the viton valve will be good, I'm going to get it probably and get something put together so I can get my truck back running good, for the flatdrags at the county fairs coming up. Would there be any issues with the fuels being in the pump all the time? Most sprayer applications get cleaned out when not in use. And then also it says maximum fluid tempature of 140 degrees, will I be ok with this? I'm not shure how hot fuel gets during operation.

I think you will be good to go... 140deg at the pump is pretty hot.

Im pretty sure Matt Wells ran 11's with just a holley blue on his truck and nothing else.

I have been happy with my carter feeding the stock lift pump. Going on 2 years and no problems yet. I almost think it would be better to run the carter by itself instead of with the stock lift pump though.

There are lots of different fuel systems and setups. Just have to look around and see what fits your budget best.

whats the rating on that carter? And teddy bear, were you the one that had that cheap $15 ebay regulator? hows that working for you.

looking for some more help here folks, I bought a filter base for an FS 1000 and just bought a different flowjet pump I found, rated at 2.0GPM (120GPH) and 60psi, and have about $110 into this much of it, so not to bad. I'm going to run some 1/2" OD line that we have at work, should be enough? So now some of my questions are, what type of regulator would you's use? I've heard talk about the one's on ebay, but not shure what one to get? also how big of a return line should I be running? And lastly do you's think it would be worth while to dual feed, the IP or am I not to the point where I should consider this? Thanks folks.

Just now saw your question to me. Its probably a little late, but my carter is 100gph.

Teddy Bear does still have the cheap ricer regulator that he bought off of ebay. It has been working good for a long time now. He is on the 3rd year of pulling with it.

This is identical to what he is running. Same color and all:

BLUE FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR MIRAGE 3000GT TALON PASSAT:eBay Motors (item 220450102733 end time Aug-09-09 02:25:19 PDT)

It hasnt missed a beat ever since we have had it on the truck, and we had no problem setting it at the PSI he wanted it at, so i dont see any reason to spend big $$ on a regulator if a $30 one will do the same job.
