looking for a smarty

yea thats what i figured, i gues the 175 i can get out of the puck will help pay for the smarty lol i think i have one bought but if it dont work out ill be in the market again.........

so your saying that the smarty only adds 30hp? i find that hard to belive. ive drove a stock 01 with a smarty and by the seat of the pants dyno it felt like a quite a bit. im not doubting you just find it hard to belive.......thanks for the info though

The smarty will work with your ECM, but your throwing away the custom software that is in your ECM. THe smarty rewrites the ECM also. If the guy that used the cummins software to reprogram your ECM knew what he was doing, I don't think you will see much gain.

One thing that the smarty does is the low level fueling. Many have posted that they notice no difference off of idle it they floor it or just give it say 50% throttle. The VP can only deliver a certain amount of fuel on the bottom end.

so can i stack the smarty with the power puck or would it be a waste of time? i can get 175 out of the puck around here

I have towed with Superchips, Hypertech, Edge Ez, Comp, Drag comp, torqueDog, Smarty, Smarty/Drag stack, XZT+, & now Adrenaline. I still think the XZT+, Adrenaline are the best towing on the market today. My egts are way lower, less smoke & every bit as strong as Smarty on PL02. There is no doubt that Smarty is a great choice for a tow rig, but I prefer the XZT+ over Smarty because egts are about 100-150* cooler due to the way Quad adds timing.
 
ok, i have the power puck right now....i turned the tst off when i towed because of the stupid surging, and from what ive seen the qaud does the same thing o well i bought a smarty tonight should be here friday ro saturday i guess ill tell ya what i think. i paid 450 for it so if i dont like i can sell it and odds are maek 50 bucks on it.:Cheer:
 
Surging with the tst? The only time my tst competition ever shuttered was when I was at level 5 or above and I let off the throttle.
 
it surged on leval 3 and up. if i unhooked the power puck it wasnt bad, it was to the point on the higher levals that it would break the tires loose with out touching the throtle pulling a trailer. i think it took out 3 carrier bearings and i built a set of ladar bars. i dont know it it was becasue of the timing or what.
 
got my smarty today, the low end power is great, i have only ran it on 9.....it smokes like a freight train off the idle but just a haze on top end.......it smokes a ton more than my stack free reving.


what is the best leval to run it on for fuel milage and power? can i run it on 8(no timing) with the power puck?
 
You can run it on 8 with the puck, or sell the puck and run it on 9. Odd levels add timing and your puck adds timing.
 
When I had the Adrenaline, the truck went like a bat outta hell from bottom to top, yes I noticed more performance up top where I wanted it but by NO MEANS was I disappointed by the low end from the Adrenaline... and that was the beta tunes. I never experienced surging.... I know the guys with big injectors were experiencing surging during the beta test tunes but thats taken care of now. But it sounds as if your happy with the smarty. :clap:





But for me theres nothing better then the Adrenaline.:rockwoot:
