MAX Dyno MPH?

Just curious of what some peoples MPH when they top out on a dyno. Last weekend at a local event we had a 2005 6.0 on the dyno and the owner wanted to take it to the max it ended up doing 158mph@4500rpms and prob could have taken it a lil farther. I just thought it was nuts for a street driven truck to turn that much. It only did like 376hp, but damm!

Brett I just saw this thread up here. Did this happen to be James or another 6.0?

No James is to afraid to see how little hp his truck makes. This was Alan Flechers truck Red Reg Cab with a huge tail pipe like 8"

i will have to ask Reb where his dyno sheet it. last year at J & H rally, he did just over 200mph, it was like 203. gotta remember, 3.73 gears with TWO 2 gear vendors overdrives will do the trick.

I know who your talking about. I ran James going down the road one night and it was all he had to get past me in my little ole 7.3 with my DP Tuner on 80 Economy, with his chip all the way up. LOL

Alans tip is from his old truck that he flipped. He had 8 in stacks on it and cut one down for his tip.

Just gotta ask, does it make you feel like you have real truck cus you got a number on a dyno sheet?

We all know block boy has to have a dyno sheet to feel adequate, but do most feel that way or would you rather have a high MPH at the dragstrip?

Some of use like to go a little further then a 1/4 mile. Some of us do not have a race track next door. closest to Minneapolis is about 1.5 to 2 hours depending on 1/8 or 1/4. We do have dyno's with in 30 minutes in any direction.

I'll possibly do a 108-110 range this year if I ever make it to a track.. However, if there's no one on the highway, a little run to 130-ish doesn't hurt anyone except me if a tire blows.

For some reason, even with the bigger injectors, I still don't have enough power to get over 3600rpm, yeah 130 is it on new tires, the smarty TNT/R (well, atleast my TNT/R) doesn't fuel past that.

Things sounded funny from the dyno at around 3800-3900. I think that's close to 140mph. didn't go much past that.

Some of us like to have a LOW ET at the dragstrip, something you can't seem to do:kick:

Oh.........I forgot..........highest MPH wins dragraces:what:LOLLOL

to own his cup of tea. why arent you sled pulling then? lots of people get a thrill out of dynoing and beating the next guys hp number. you can have a super super light vehicle, some decent power and the right gearing and get BIG mph at the strip. like i said, everyone has their own cup of tea.

i gotta agree with you greg, dont matter how fast my mph is, if i beat the guy next to me with a lower et, thats all the matters. low et wins rounds, not mph.

Replace your trans with a 6 speed manual. then lets run em. Better yet, I'll run your Ferrari or that NSX in the 1/4 ;-)

It's a handicap us manual trans guys live with. mph is very good and calculating HP. i've been with in 5 hp of a load dyno and somewhere around 10hp from what I pulled on a dynojet. However, yes, et wins, that's the name of the game naturally.

I know it's off topic but I have a rookie drag racing question here.

Is the reaction time factored into the ET and isn't that part of the race too? I've only done TNT and never got into brackets but probably will this year.

reaction time is not a factor with the ET, but someone with a faster reaction time and a slower ET can still win

We blew a tire on my brothers truck at 123mph, still finding peices of that dang tire all over the shop. Was'nt cool at all.

Thats scary, a shredded tire can take a head off in an instant. I always wonder about the IQ of people standing so close during a burnout contest too.
