I was wondering if there is any connection to aftermarket injector failures due to not having a modded rail??? I recently had 3 of my injectors go and one was found to have a small particle of metal in the tip.. This was only 300miles after installing the modded rail??? If this were to happen to you would you think that the modded rail possibley let a small particle of metal go into the injectors??? I have a glacier fuel system with prescreen, and 2 micron filter that then flows into the stock wix filter housing.. I was told by the rail modder that after market injectors will fail is the rail is not modded?? Wesley

i would have to say the modded rail wasn't completely clean when you installed it or some metal came from the threads

That's what I hate about commonrails all it takes is a grain of salt and WAMM!! you can screw up a CP3 & set of injectors in the blink of an eye.

That is why I my 12 valve is now my most reliable daily driver....

Yes if the modded rail was not cleaned and or the end user did not flush it prior to use then yes it will cause an injector failure.

For sure was it #1 OR #6 I have heard of this before, change rail only and then sudden injector failure.

#1 and #6 seem to have the easiest path for trash to flow out to.

Yes it was cleaned by me with brake clean and compressed air...

My main concern now that I have my injectors back and in good working order is that I was told that aftermarket injectors will fail/start having problems with out a modded rail is this true??? Just curious.. I will be reinstalling the injectors with the stock rail...

What the modded rail does is it keeps the pounding effect down on the injectors primarially 2 thru 5 because of the radi that the fuel must take to enter the injector line.

Not knowing who did your rail I can not speak for validity of it's construction. The ones I mod are ultrisonic cleaned and flowed with CAL fluid before being sent out.

That is what Don M told me is that they needed to be cleaned with the Ultrisonic or someting or another... I dont know it the rail I had was ultrisonic cleaned or not??? Im not sure if everyone who mods them do that.. I was assured over and over again buy the guy that modded it that it was no problem with his rail.. O well.. I will run my stocker and if I have injector failure again I will have to just put stock injectors in...

Just to let everyone know I do not believe it was the rail that contributed to injector failure... The metal shavings were found in the cp3 as well... At this time no one knows where they came from... Wesley

SO, What do think of the rail??? + or - HP?????

I dont know cause I did a lot of things at once... I will stick with my stocker for a while then I might get another modded rail... The rail I had was sent back to the guy that modded it and he gave me a refund...

wpeschel if you dont mind me asking who did you get it modded by? im wondering beacuse i have mine sitting in from of me ready to go into the truck :( now im scared.

As stated above I do not think that it came from the rail.... We found the same metal shavings in the cp3 so that tells me it did not come from the rail... The guy that modded mine had never, had any failures.. You should be safe to run it.. Wesley

I run big II injectors and a bone stock rail, no problems.$.02

metal in the injector

I had the occassion when at Floor It to have a modded cp3 lvl 2 taken apart in front of me and there was a piece of hanging metal (thread-like metal fragment) hanging and get this,.. I had been driving like that for almost a year since it was installed. And NO this was NOT a Floor It pump. Floor It's is machined like glass. Hadn't John taken that pump apart I surely would have lost injector/s due to it. I can't believe how fortunate I was.

All this to say your metal piece could have been something other than the modded rail.
