Monster vs P-pump

judus thats a bit of work! I just press a button... instant detune:lolly:

its not that bad.. ive never had to pull the plate back thats for extreme cases.. most of the time a 10mm wrench and a flat head screwdriver fixes all

Jamie not saying anything about your truck, but beating a Dragon or monster is not that hard if there not set up, you get a truck thats set up like mine or somebody else's and i think there will be a totally different out come. I have beat 13mm ppumps that are capable of 1000cc's doesnt mean the pump is junk, just means its not set up properly.

Tyrel, I'm not cutting on the Dragon pump or anything. I'm sure they can make good power if setup correctly, look what Winslett does with his Monster. I don't think my truck is the "shiznibbles" or anything, it is far from the baddest truck around. I'm just saying that a SO vp truck can be very competitive "if setup correctly". I just don't think the Monster or Dragon have been around long enough to have a "reliable" setup which is worth the $$ they sell for. P-pumps are proven, I would go that route.

i agree with junkie about tuneability as well. Half of the people who say monsters are junk or dont buy it there hit or miss have no experience with the pump and none dealing with Mike. In the start of things yeas the pumps had some tweaks and flaws but he figured them out and fixed it now they are running awesome. Again its just one mans op. p pumps are good make huge power and reliable. and in defense to the monster pump all the guys making the most power running the best times like Karl isnt the fellah from Left Coast Diesel now running one and put down an insane number. Steve B all these guys are at the head of the pack. its up to you brotha.

I just made 1002hp with the same set up I run on the street daily. It it was the highest number at the dyno event, and there were a couple of 13mm p-pumped, cammed, twined rigs there. As well as twin turboed, twin pumped common rails. The next closest was 853. Hial VP Power!! Just wait till the big sticks go back in her!!

P-pumps are king, But it's not as easy as throwing one on and making tons of power. It takes a LOT of tuning and knowledge to make power no matter what pump you choose. Anyone making 800 plus didn't get there over night, It's a struggle. Even if you buy a built P-Pump, you will still have to tune it to the truck. Part of what makes the P-pump so cool is the multitude of adjustments, and can be frustrating if you don't (Or even do) own a dyno. And it's a long learning curve.. In that respect a monster would be easier, It's a plug and play deal.

But no question, a P-pump can make more power, but it takes tuning to do so.

a "setup correctly" hrvp put the hurt on everyone at deleon this weekend. 1st both nights in the open class. vids coming shortly.

Come to scheids and u will see one the best HRVPs out there bar none

It may be wearing a monster next year

If its the one Rods talking about im going to have to see that truck, i have about everything that truck has and LOTS LOTS more and im up there in the class (top 5) at almost everypull, but not first. But i am pulling against some of the top 2.6 trucks in the country so who knows.

And by the next pull im going to have some 6x18's

ok, thanks. just wondering cuz a friend of mine has a 98 24v auto, hes lookin to upgrade the pump (if at all). would an HO pump be of benefit if at all possible?

Damnt i love your truck!!!! The color is the CHIT!!

P pump it. I did 641 with a non benchend 160 pump with a 64/71. I made 658 with a non benchend 215 but I havent had much time to tune on it. There is more than enough fuel for 800 plus with 6x12s and 191s.

I also agree 100% what Adam (WINspeed) said. I have tried 4 or five different injectors, changend timming countless times changend plates and positions and afc springs and on and on lots of tuning but I know it will be worth it.

HO pumps don't flow as much as SO pumps. Max HO pump hp is around 525ish.

Your still driving this thing right Chad? The idea of plug and play with the monster is cool, but so is a p pump hangin off it. I already spend most of my time under my hood anyway, so tinkering with the tuning wouldn't be an imposition. Cost for the conversion vs. the monster is about the same, if I were to go with the kit from scheid. I'll see how the truck does with the head, cam, twins, and mach 7's. If I want some more, I'll get a monster, if I want alot more, I'll p pump.

I still daily drive it. It drives just as good as the vp if not better. I know there is alot left in my set up. I just found out by turbo is done so time to put something bigger on. I was going to do twins but I want to stay single after catching the bug to pull again.

What area do you pull in? Where I'm at you can run twins in the extreme class, which basically means hanging weights. Not too strict on the class rules really.

I just put a monster on mine buddys truck from eep runs verry good for sled pulling i would talk to drew at eep they will set u up with a good set up if you wanna go that way i just put 10 feet on guys running ho pumps an it wants more weight verry happy with the monster

shoot i got a HRVP and me and Tyrel are neck and neck every pull. i think it is more set up than all out power. we have both beat trucks with way more power

True that man, but I race alot more then I pull. So all the extra ponies I can get out on the street will help. Not saying that you can't have a driver that is decently setup, for those times when ya just gotta do some street racing.
