I agree with Brandon. I would just remake them so that the bolt head hits the center of the spring clamp between the 2 "humps". Otherwise you will probably beat the humps down and it will cause the bolt holes for the U-bolts to spread away from each other, then possible make the rear axle loose.

hmm there a bolt in middle of the humps though... my though was to weld a 3/8 piece over the hump and extended it a inch over and also use a 3/8 spacer.. as i dont want to drill any more 3/4 inch holes as bits are 22 each and tool 3 to drill 2 holes through the 3/8 steel

Use a torch or plasma cutter to make them. There not threaded so it wont hurt. But I would redo them especially if one bends a little then slids off theside of the plate

Im off next week so why dont u get me a place to stay a night and I will drive out there and help ya figure something out, kinda like a mini vacation for me. I actually think I have some angle that would be tits to use (it is the same angle im going to use for my new ones). We wouldent even have to gusset it or even weld....... :rockwoot:

:hehe:LOL Yes because im almost certin no-one in the motorsports industry has ever named their vehicle "G-Thang". I kinda like the OG rap anyway, just different and im sure most places I go to pull a large number of people will probly make fun of me and call me names and an idiot. Once hooked to the sled they may change their tune.......

Back on track now.

I can hear the announcer now " next up Brandon is his 1997 Dodge he calls.............. ummm G-Thang....... WTF is a G Thang!"

How does it hit when you have the spring compressed when it travels.. or do you have to have 1in of travel? we put plate on the top of the spring so it would have a good even surface to hit on.. we used at least a 1in bolt.

spent most of today on the road, to south bend and back, took the old 3850 12cb up there , had 35 hooks on it, 4 hours of snow plowing, 5 tug a trucks, and 7k miles on it, and got it rebuilt. Peter talked me into going to Feramic now i have a 385012fb
