Bought a truck(first gen) that has a p-pump part#0 402 736 823. I have searched and can't find any info on it. I am wanting to adjust the timing but without the plunger lift info... Thanks for any replies

The first and last digits in 3rd line are hard to read, but I believe that's correct. I found the pump as a core number but no info. Tried to call cummins and they said 0 402 number was a bad number.

That's for 11mm P&B's, I'm sure if CTDYoungGun see's this he'll be able to tell you more.

i believe the 4th digit from the end of the PES# indicates a P7100 12mm pump, which hp i don't know, the 4th digit would be a 3 if it was a P3000 11mm pump

The red numbers in the post above yours is the plunger size, 11mm. The last 4 digits indicated pump series. There are 11mm P7100's, his being one of them.

Is a 11mm pump worth fooling with? The truck has h1c ht3b twins, 4k gsk, bigger injectors possibly 6x16's, unknown dv's, ported and polished head, and afc has been gutted(looking for afc now.) The truck doesn't have the snap you normally get from a CTD. I bought it this way trying to sort it out...Thanks for replies!

Well, at least all the hard work is done and all the little parts are already found. Now you just need to find a decent pump to work with :Cheer:

Echoing what has already been said, it is a 7000 series with 11mm b&p that was originally used on a 6CTA Cummins (8.3L).

It has a cam similar to the 160/175 pumps with the "d-shape" profile. Uses constant pressure valves instead of delivery valves. Your best option would be selling that pump and transfering your parts over to a pickup pump (160, 175. 180, or 215hp).

However, for your information the timing spec on that pump is 11* BTDC, so if you still want to bump the timing up, pin the pump, pop the gear loose, rotate the engine backgrounds the appropriate number of degrees to reach your desired timing, then tighten the gear back down.

Hmmm. I wonder what the lube line situation is on this setup. All the 8.3's I've seen were fed through the gear housing.

Thanks for replies! I guess the search for a pump begins. I have no idea on the lube situation, I will check when I get home from work tomorrow.

From a married guy's perspective, Astroglide is a great first-timer's lube.

After that, you'll have to test and tune to find out what works best for your particular situation.
