My brother is having the same kinda issues with his '02. He just had the VP replaced about 10K miles ago if that...and when he's cruising down the interstate the hills absolutely KILL his truck. It's not so bad when it's just the truck, but pulling a tiny trailer he'll get dead pedal like crazy and he'll lose 15-20mph on the hills.
It acts like it comes and goes....he can be fighting with it going over the hills and 5 miles later it will blast up the hill no problem and then the next hill have dead pedal again. It's freakin weird!
Me and Tyler were talking about this awhile ago and we're thinking the injector pump was faulty from the get go...
EXACTLY WHAT I HAVE!!!! Its like becuase your truck is pointed uphill BAM dead pedal. Crazy thing is I always get it on the ramp to enter south bypass arond Birmingham, everytime BAM! Its almost like the fact your truck is going uphill kills it because it will come back alive downhill cures it.
I had to pull off on the shoulder and put flashers on acouple of times and i aint shy about going slow on the interstate either.
I'm dreading getting it worked on because I know its gona be a part replacement experiment to figure out and cost mass money. I need to get it fixed though. I have the money now but there doesnt seem to be a consensus on what the cause is
My truck did what you speak of a few months ago when the ECM crapped. $.02
WOW.,.....thats rare....Keith get you an ECM?
Thats a long story.....Keith is involved, but did a great job dealing with what he had to put up with. I'll leave it at that. I can say this is my THIRD "new" ECM this year from Cummins though.....
when ordering a new tps why do you need to have the vin nu off the motor in hand i went to dodge and asked and they told me that the after markt ones are not calbrated to dodge specs is that true cause its 200 bucks cheaper than from dodge
