I just put a new vp44 on yesterday bc i thought that was the problem but it still does it.

Problem: Going down the road it will run fine and if i start getting on it, it will start building boost and speeding up and then boom it cutts out and the the turbo barks and the boost drops like the fuel cutting off ???:bang And the dead peadel like it wants too die not sure how to explane it but it throws these codes

CODES. P0622
P1765
p0460
P1694
P1693

Without looking up those codes, it sounds like you are getting TPS problems.

There is almost no way to check these damn things either. You pretty much have to replace them if you suspect they are causing the problem.

Your Throttle Positioning Sensor.

Our trucks are "fly by wire." Your right foot isn't connected to the pump, so as you push down on the pedal it doesn't automatically add more fuel. The TPS measures how far you have pressed the pedal, and sends the computer signal to add more fuel.

I'm checking the codes now to see if I recognize them.

Oh yeah, Dodge's name for the thing is the APPS. Same idea, different names.

Anyway, no, they are not hard to replace. They are pretty darn easy. I don't recognize any of those codes, so I can't say for certain that it is your problem. However, those are tale-tale signs that the APPS if failing. I remember a while back someone was trying to figure out how to oscilloscope them, but I don't know if anything ever came from it.

They arent dealer only now are they? I was reading where user "Timbo" had an aftermarket replacement.

From the looks of those codes I'm going to guess that you may have a ground problem. Check and clean all the grounds on the truck.

try a Reset first

RESETTING THE APPS SENSOR.
(ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION SENSOR)
2ND GENERATION 24 VALVE TRUCKS ONLY.

LIST OF TOOLS NEEDED

DIGITAL VOLT METER
# 20 TORQUE BIT SOCKET
# 1 PHILLIPS
# 10 MM SOCKET

Proper service and repair procedures are vital to ensure personal safety of those performing the repairs. Standard safety procedures and precautions should be followed at all times to eliminate the personal injury or improper service, which could damage the vehicle or compromise its safety.
Although this material has been prepared with the intent to provide reliable information, no liability is assumed in reliance of this material.

It has come to my attention that a lot of people think by disconnecting & re-connecting the batteries and stepping on the throttle it is going to reset the apps, no, that is not correct. It is impossible to adjust your apps if you do not know where it is supposed to be set at. That is why you need the voltmeter.

This is the procedure I use to re-set the apps.

With the key on, engine off you need to probe the apps wire to see where your voltage is currently set at.
The best location to probe the wire is on the PCM (power control module) which is located off the passenger side of the firewall.

• You want the C1 connector, this is the connector closest to the engine,
• You want the orange wire with the dark blue tracer which is pin # 23
• Voltage should read somewhere around 0.5 volts,
• At this point the voltage reading does not matter, it just has to be accurately written down for later reference.

*** TURN THE IGNITION OFF ON THE TRUCK ***

Resetting the APPS Sensor cont. page 2
(Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor)
2nd generation 24 valve trucks only.

• The apps sensor is located slightly above and a little to the left of the injection pump.

• Remove the black plastic cover that is located by your injection pump.

The two screws that are holding it are plastic, do not put any downward pressure on them or you will never get them off.

• Un do the 6 - 10 mm headed bolts that hold the bracketry in place.
(DO NOT REMOVE THE CABLES)

You will notice the apps is on the back of the bracketry that you just removed, it is held in place by 2 - 20 bit screws. These screws have a little bit of locktite on them so make sure you have a good socket and gently give a little tap with a hammer before attempting to loosen. Be very careful these screws strip very easily and you only get one shot at them.

• On the apps you will find a white tag that gives you the information on what the apps adjustment should be.

• After loosening the screws you can rotate the apps both clockwise and counter clockwise to get the adjustment you need.

• The reading you took at the beginning of the process on pin # 23 should match the white tag on your apps, if not adjust accordingly.

I dont know i just put brand new batteries in it and is still doing it. Could it ba the cam sensor. i unhooked my box and it is still doing it.

Maybe something that is made but your not going to get one from your local parts store....

if you have a 12Valve you can though

Did you get it figured out? Your codes are wierd.

P1756
Governor Pressure Not Equal To Target At 15–20 PSI

P0460
Fuel Level Unit No Change Over Miles

P1694
No CCD Messages Received From ECM

P1693
DTC Detected In ECM Or PCM (dumbest dam code ever, this codes means you have codes....DUH!!!)

Codes taken from: http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/98-5-02-tech-articles/49365-98-5-02-codes.html

I don't think your APPS has ANYTHING to do with this. I just replaced mine this weekend using the procedure above and it was simple, very simple. I had a dead spot at 18% throttle.

I think you have bigger issues but I'm sorry that I don't have any idea. The "NO CCD" message means you have missing information on a bus that I think goes to the PCM (on the firewall).

The problem with these codes are depending on where you get the description, they may or may not be what they say. I screwed around for two weeks because the code I got said some generic description in the code reader manual but when you actually look at the DTC for my '02 diesel, the code meant PCM failure. Bad deal...$500 bad.

Good luck! Keep us posted. :D

No i never got it fixed it still keeps running like crap. now the rmp's stay at like 2000 and it is really at something different. and jummping around and cutting out. and the wate to start light will flash on

That's sounding more like a pcm or ecm problem with the wait to start light flashing.
