The truck is my dd and I would like to add some more power options but keep the smoke to very little to none. Truck is a 2001. How much power does anyone think you could make out of one with no smoke? Just curious.

depends on how crazy you want to go. a 65hp box wont smoke too much, especially if its a 2001 auto and has the hy35. 9cm housing spools near instantly.

going with a wire tap box is going to smoke, but maybe a tst will be better, it doesnt start fueling until it sees boost.

my 02 doesn't smoke at all, when my box is turned up you just have to be light on the pedal until the turbo starts to light, then even at full throttle i have only a haze.

Just a 65hp non-wiretap box won't make it smoke... will barely see a haze at WOT with 65 hp injectors too.

I agree. I have 75hp sticks and a with a wiretap box the only smoke I get is a puff if I nail under low boost conditions. WOT and full boost, I dont even have a haze with the stock charger, 4" exhaust, and CAI.

The Edge Comp has user determined pre-settings that limit fueling until boost reaches 10, 15, or 20 psi. I have to use the 20psi limit in some "green" neighborhoods during the summer.
The limits work whether the pump wire is connected or not.

edge still adds fuel below that setting, thats when it starts FULLY fueling

I coulda swore there was less smoke with the Comp on than with it off.
Maybe some additional timing?

could be. with the edge plugged in and on, its in edge EZ mode until you reach the boost its set for.

Is there any way to know when you start modding if it is going to smoke. I'm sure it depends all on the combo your running but what are some factors to think about when doing this for no smoke.

mvp makes a 100hp smokeless box that has some good reviews??!

TS Performance makes the MVP. Not too much on the bottom end, but mid range it really rolls into it when the turbo lights.

Smoke is to much fuel for your air, so get as much air as possible then bring the fuel up just enough to match it. P&P the head, intake and exhaust manifolds, ArcFlow or similar, intercooler, cam, and S300 over S400 plus all the supporting mods.

That's what I would suggest, improve the ve of the engine as much as possible and run fast spooling set of twins.

I'd be curious to see what a full p&p head, cam, and 64/12 s480 1.10a/r with gates around both would do. It would be hell to set up but could move alot of air with quick spool.

air air and more air, simple as that. Head, cam work, tight housing'd turbos, and there you go! Some good injectors will help your cause as well.

Sounds like air is the key to no smoke. So that is where I will start then.

Anyone willing to give me a real detailed parts lists for what I need. For instance like twin turbo's exactly which ones or injectors which size and brand or cam and so one. You can p.m me if interested. If I get no replies I'll try to figure something out. There is just so many different ways to go and I don't know enough yet to pick the right combo. I mainly just want a parts list so I can start ordering.

man its odd to see someone asking for more power and no smoke. but i guess this isnt cummins forum.
