New NTPA Class

I still remember the day I sat in their office, talking about Diesel pick-ups.

"We aren't interested in any more classes, especially a truck class. But go ahead by yourselves, if you get a big enough following, we'll talk."

Thanks.

Good guys, just tractor guys, thats all. Should do nothing but help our sport.

Should help in the safety department.

I thought I had heard a few years back and they had an interest in buying DHRA. I could be wrong on this like I said it was a few years back.

No, no, ATPA offered to buy us, a few months later, THEY had nothing to buy with, lol.

NTPA has always been straight up and pleasant, Larry Richwine has helped us(all of Diesel pulling) at the SFI meetings, etc.

sounds like a good deal to me...haven't pulled at all big time like a lot of you guys...but i've done a fair amount of pump and turbo building for a few of the ntpa guys and they seem very professional (for still being just high-tech rednecks)...

if nothing else, it will start implementing some safety rules which will hopefully catch on, because i know there are alot of guys everywhere who are riding a bomb...and it would be horrible for the driver and fans if something happened...

Well, actually, DHRA has implemented a lot of SFI safety rules, a few years back. Clutches, blankets bellhousings, in addition, to cross bolts, air kills, loops, etc.

Ok I wasn't for sure, I just thought I remembered reading about somebody offering to by someone.

yea, bu most of the pulls around here are either brush or smaller association pulls...9 out of 10 don't even require a helmet...and with a few trucks pushing somewhere around 600 to 700 hp, i think there ought to be some more safety rules, but i don't make the rules...i'll just get pissed when a clutch explodes and hits me in the stands or the pits...

Excellent point, and a very good reason why you should have a sanctioning body running your event with insurance, and proper safety rules, that are enforced.
