new p-pump questions

One thing I think people might miss is the 887 vs the 913 pump, both 215hp. The 913 is more common I think and flows a lot, but has the timing retard notches in the plungers.

I think if you're going to replace everything internal, go with whatever's cheaper to get. I think you have the right idea, but no plate and make sure the plungers are advanced and the rack retarded a little.

5150RAM has a 12mm pump on his I think he had done very high 900 hp fuel only, and well over 1k with nos

I think My truck maybe in the 800 range fuel only with a non benchend 215.

If its for your p pump 24v start with 181s then 191s or 024s. I like the 024s better than 191s

Sweet !!! Thats 3 in the country any more ??

Ive changed DV's on a stand to check the difference with 191's vs. Full cuts.... 90cc's more with full cuts

Very similar results here!

I'm convinced it's all about how much air the engine can get and proper turbo charging...if you don't have both just right you're better off with 191's and "AFC tuning".

i was looking around on cummins forum and i found some guys that were going to cut ther own DV's

most of them are looking at making a .025

But what were the injection characteristics of that extra 90cc? I not sure anyone has discredited them with flowing more (although that is a huge amount more) but I thought the way they do there job and end the injection cycle was what was in question? :what:
:pop:

Lots of people cut there own to varying specs. You probably shouldn't run out a do something just because some guy at CF told you it was a good idea though :badidea:

Sure the FC's will make that 80-100cc more fuel; but even with lot's of air Ive never made any more power with them. Its the late delivery that seems to make them a complete turd, a shoulder to cut fuel at x time works better and runs cooler.

IMO Call Columbus Diesel and tell them what you want to do. They can build a pump for you.

Ive dyno tested DV's back to back and full cuts allways made more power then any other by a large margine. Example Full cuts made 40 more hp over a DV that flowed 10 more cc's then a 191 that was in the test. This is how my truck reacted and Im not saying all trucks will do the same.

That's very good information  :thankyou2:

I have access to a very big European made P-pump test stand, and to the tools, but what I dont have yet is the right knowledge. The guy who owns the stand and tools will do whatever i ask of him, but he is more a rebuilder, and a serious VE pump guy, not a real big, P7100 performance guy

Got a part number for the Bosch pieces?

So I could take a 160 or 180 pump and order a cam from Colt, buy the bosch 13mm barrels/plungers, slip in a #8 or #10 or zero plate, a 5gsk, a rack plug, and say a set of 191 dvs and have it benched and I would be good to go?

What have I missed?

Ken- Not sure if Colt with cut you a custom grind likey they would for the big shops(there is alot of secrets still out there) When I got my cam cut 3 years ago the guy I bought it from said I will get it done for you, it will work great, but I won't give you any spec's on whats been done. Also, you are probably going to have one heck of a hard time getting getting P&B's up here even with Part's as they are all comming from England (I was lucky to find my stocked in the US from a pump shop). There is also a ton of info that you or you pump guy will probably have a hard time getting as far as all the little tricks to the Horse Power trade involving timing and everthing else. Also, as far as the pump stand goes, its been a few years but you need something VERY big to turn one of these pumps that can rev the engine to 5K or more as they have to be able to spin the pump to 2500rpm. I was there when they had mine on the stand to 3000rpm pump speed and I thought the entire bench stand was going to grenade!!!!

As far as P&B's...like stated above I have only heard of "Kits" being sold from chinesse suppliers and if you do a search (google) you will find even 16mm P&B's for out pumps...don't think I would ever do that thought even with bosch parts!!!!

For what its worth, after having a cam cut(650 with a few other mods to the cam and whats attached to it), buying the P&B's (over $1600 for the 6) and then still having it build...I would go out and buy a pump from a relaible shop like Schied for a little more money and have something thats going to work the way its supposed to be.

Good luck...Ryan
