no smoke question?

Just installed Edge Comp Hot and not really seeing smoke which I know is good thing but am wondering if maybe something else causing? I didnt install boost elbow becuase i had installed manual waste gate, i was pulling 25 pounds of boost before comp box. Is that reason why? I have Magnaflow 4inch exhaust,ats manifold,afe stage 2,cfm manifold, stock fuel pump. I am not looking for black smoke just wondering if its tuned right? saving money for tranny beefing!!!! thanks for help
 
Check your connection at the I/P make sure it did not come loose. What kind of F/P are you seeing? If your F/P is being pulled down with comp you are not going to be taking full advantage of your new power. That stock L/P might not be up to the task. Just a few things.

I/P is new but stock not hotrod version. isnt there a banjo bolt or something you can change? also how does holley blue f/p work? or should i go for fass? I am not drag racing or anything but i do pull a 32 travel trailer every so often and mostly use truck to hunt. I 'd just like for it to perform better than lethargic stock form.Its running alot better than it did when it was stock, thanks for avice.

Do you have fuel pressure gauge ? If not, that is THE first mod on these trucks.
 
nope i sure dont, boost,tranny,pyro and low fuel pressure warning light. hell i have no more room on a-pillar!!! Thia was just a great deal on hunting truck and its turned into monster........ oh well fun as hell though

I have an 02 5 speed 4x4 with comp box and have the same problem. The i/p is new also but stock with walbro lift pump. The truck smoked like a train with the juice and attitude but comp only hazes. I have 4" strait pipe, stock turbo with wastegate plugged off, custom intake with Banks ram horn. I was thinking the i/p wire connection is the problem. But don't know for sure.
 
The connection to the IP wire is VERY important for these trucks, check, check, and check it again. Also check the ground for the box, seen that a couple of times.

Wildfire> Have you adjusted the wastegate a bit higher yet? If you can get it set about 30-32 that would be just about perfect, you can get more from the turbo but it's just hot air. Right now my best guess would be a wonky connection at the IP.
 
soder the connection on the ip thats what i did and it fix the problem. mine had the same problem that ya'll are describing
 
i have the edge comp and when i put my holley blue pump in there was no proformance gain that i could tell i used the stealth cover to make sure the connection was right you would be able to tell if the connection was loose my truck was acting like it would pull hard one minute and slow down the other if you done the connection right it wont be that the only time it would smoke harder after you was all the way into the trottle was when the air filter got to dirty clean after i clean it it cleared up most of the smoke as you said. if you wont more smoke get the hot unlock code version and bigger stixs. I think what your seeing is about the normal fixin to order the unlock code for mine let you know how it works. Plus the edge comp still defuels on top end close to red line anyway i think the hot code version will not if it dont get a smarty to stack or BD rad it will get rid of the tq mangment and stop the truck from defueling
 
And the changing of the banjo bolts might help but its doughtful if you would be able to tell get a better lift pump and by all means get a fp guage pm me if you wont me to tell you about my fp guage setup its cheap and easy
 
i have an 01 6speed and with just the hot comp and holly blue i barely got a haze till i put bigger injectors in.
 
dumb question but you do have your low boost fueling all the way up right? If you don't know just hold the 2 arrows until the lights start blinking then use the arrows to turn it all the way up.
 
i would say u are fine. id double check the wire tap jus to be safe. i solderd mine on my old comp box. i had a stock truck pretty mch and it didnt smoke a whole lot. i could lug it and get some and it would put a small cloud out from a stop when u mash it. also mine doesnt smoke near as mch in the winter b/c of the cold air, but im guessing it isnt the coldest in central fl? BT086 has good idea too

thanks guys for input on issue i went with stealth cover for comp and i did get hot version. i am not looking for smoke like its cool thing was just wondering if i had forgot something? smoke to me means raw fuel witch aint a good thing.Truck pulls hard till tranny starts slipping. guess i know what else i need now....... wish i had an Allison like in my Duramax oh well!

yaeh he got me , no i can't shift, HA HA! but my truck stays in the road more than in the shop, But that may be because your an exhaust man not a mechanic!!
 
My truck with ADR on PL00 smokes and doesn't stop until ya let off. Crank it to PL10 and load Comp tunes, and its good night. More power(and black as night smoke) than you can imagine.
 
Can you turn your boost controller up? You want it set in the low 30's.

You could use a line kit from vulcan performance to run that pump of yours. Their high flow fitting probably flow 4-5x what stock banjos do. Or drill out the stockers. A line kit and a stock pump and my fuel pressure was fine at nearly 500 hp $.02
 
Ok so i have turbo master set at around 33-34 pounds at f/t and it still seems like its starving for fuel, aside from the slipping tranny in 3rd and 4th. Working on tranny issue but still need this fuel issue fixed. suggestions? holley blue pump,fass,bd? im looking for quite and reliable along with better performance than stock
