I guess I should have stated that if you broke a DHD, I would recomend going to the 271. Tranfercase exspress used a Ford shift plate in mine which allowed me to keep the shift pattern for the 97 truck. yes you loose the speedo no big deal if it's dedicated puller if its not I understand you get a signal from the tone ring in the rear pumpkin.

I haven't looked in a service manual to see if the signals are the same from the transfercase and from the rear end tone ring. I know for the transfercase you can get different gears that go on the pickup to account for 410 and 354 gears. The tone ring always setup is nice. Same amount of pulses per rev no matter what gear ratio you have.

Low NP205 (1.98:1) Eeeek

Low NP241 (2.72:1)

Low NP271 (2.72:1)

If you have a 5 speed and 3.55 the 1.98 has a better ratio for 3rd gear low and if you want to get crazy stack the 205 with a 203 and have a 4.1 ratio I added all this up and you had some good finals

From TDR:

To do the NP271 on 94-97 trucks you get an SGI-5 from dakota digital you use the signal off the rear end for the ABS. That signal gos into the module you then hook the signal wires that where on the transfer case to the output of this unit. This is a pretty neat little unit as it will convert just about any ppm (pulse per mile) signal in to almost any other ppm signal.

That is what I was looking for, could I get a round about price 1000 mabey. How much further does it set the X-fercase back couple inches I just dont want it hitting my ladder bar set-up.

I paid I think just under $1000 for one from t-case express buildt with the right shift plate and bolt up flange on the rear. It's been a few years but I think it was less then an 1" longer not far at all. perhaps somebody who has does it recently can remeber.
