Blew the headgasket today and wondering which is better for a daily driver but still used for pulling? Thanks

i would be worried about rolling the wire with fire rings cut in block and head for a actual daily driver some people say they have a daily driver with firerings but do you actually drive you truck back and forth to work and around town everyday or just a cruise here and there

if strictly puller and had the money to pull the engine to do it i would go fire rings

I fireringed mine, but most likely o-rings and studs would be just fine for you.

my o-rings have held triple digit boost for 3+ years $.02

I would O ring the head for the simple fact that you can still use stock head gaskets, with fire ring you can do this.

Firerings will loose there seal over many heat cycles whereas o-rings won't. Most purpose built pulling engines get fire-rings, and most daily driven (lots of heat cycles) engines get o-rings.

Just give jeff garmon a call, he does neither! he torques factory bolts, even in his race truck!

I can agree from experience. My first set of fire rings only lasted about 12k miles of true daily driving (7 days a week, multiple start up and shut downs a day). Heat cycles make them brittle over time. If you are truly daily driving it i would recommend o-ringing

whats a good indication the fire rings are going bad? just wondering cuz i got 15k on mine...still seems to run good

I have 45K on my firerings and have not had any issues (so far). When I did my head, that's what Haisley recommended.

i have over 55k on my firerings. it was my daily driver until fuel went up, then i bought a commuter truck. i also have 14mm studs that are to say the least very very tight, which has caused other problems but that is another story. but hey so far my fire rings have held great!

that very well be true but he decompressed quite abit so you say with no orings and just head bolts garmon can get my 17.1 compression engine not to blow a head gasket i highley doubt it
