OBS Radius Arm Aand Subframe Build

Really clean looking truck, nice fab work also. Is it possible to pull the tranny/t-case without removing the crossmember? Can't tell how close it is in the pics.

Yeah you can with a zf5. The cross member is like 13" back from the output on the transfer case. It will be close when I put a zf6 in. I might have to cut a section out of the center of it and move the center back then weld it back in. Maybe I'll just pull the transfer case individually from the trans after I put in a zf6 and leave the cross member the way it is.

Nice looking fab work. What did you use to cut the brackets? Those look a lot better than when I try to use a torch, or even a plasma cutter LOL

Just a regular old torch for the 3/8" plate. And a miller dynasty plasma cutter for all the 1/4" stuff. Everything was made from 1/4" plate other than the subframe.

Looks even better in real life. The attention to detail is awesome. The testing all went good. I believe all that's left are the billet reservoir mounts, the Speedway Engineering sway bar, powder coat, and the bling bling parts.:lolly:

Here are some pics of the front axle being built.

This is as soon as I got it to set down on the housing.

Just an FYI for anybody who plans on welding cast stuff. PREHEAT PREHEAT PREHEAT! It needs to be between 250 and 300 degrees. Go in short sections, 2 - 3 inches, and post heat and peen the crap out of it. I use a needle scaler attachment for an air hammer. Its best if you can somehow insulate it while cooling. A good way is to dig a hole and get a bed of coals in the bottom, put whatever you just welded in on top of the coals then bury it and let it cool for like a day. Another good way for smaller stuff is to use a 5 gallon bucket and fill it with sand.

Here it is with just the truss.

Track bar bracket. I set it this high to get my roll center as high as possible.
