Who should i go to for a well built 47re in north east ohio?
I see quite a few people around the area and wouldnt mind a 2 hour give or take trip to get a good one at a fair price.
What I want:
Billet input, output, and flexplate
Valve body
Torque Converter
Rebuild kit/upgraded internals(like what Goerend does)
I Would like the shop to put it in for me since they would proably be able to set up all the pressures and the like.
Will be looking to Drag race, sled pull(once or twice a year) and mainly street drive/daily drive. Any close Goerends Dealers. I'm really interested in his TQ converter but a single would work too if it would save me some money. I don't really want to go too much over 4 grand.
Thanks.

Can you do the tranny install yourself? If so call Dave Goerend and he can ship you a unit.

There is a good shop, in Greenville, Pa, not affiliated with of the big name Diesel trans mans. He will build it how you want it, with the parts you want, though.

i've talked to Dave and he is a very knowledgable guy. I probably could do the tranny myself. I know alot of good mechanics that could help me out, but it would be easier on me for a more knowledgable and experienced person to do it right. Or is the install not that hard? I saw the one they did on the 12 valve in diesel power, but that was a 2wd, and mine is 4x4.

Thats an hour from me. Is the shop familiar with diesel transmissions?

Transmissions aren't that bad IMO. Well, never done a auto, but had my 5-speed in and out half a dozen times. Unless there is a big difference between the auto and 5-speed, you should be able to do it, especially if you have mechanic friends.

Only things that bother me are line pressure, trans case and tq converter, which i guess you just turn the engine over till you see the bolts in the little window and take em out. How many are there?

6 TC bolts. It's not bad removing and reinstalling the transmission. It may take a few hours the first time, but every time it gets easier. The only specialty tool you may need is something to spread the framerail a little bit to get the crossmember out.

Where you at in ohio?? We have a shop that does all our auto work give me a call and I will give you a # and address. He is reasonable and stands behind everything he does.

Sledge hammer is a specialty tool??!? :hehe:

I have a friend that I have seen him do this probably 15 times. He is able to get the crossmember in and out. 90% of the time he doesn't even have to use a hammer.

Im in canfield, Mahoning county.
Your in zansville, so thats about 2 hours away. Can you pm me the numb. and address. Maybe if i head out that way you can take a look at my fuel pressure gauge for me. I bought it from you a while ago and its at 10 psi all the time w/ the fass which doesnt seem right...

Get a transmission and converter from Dave Goerend and be done. Thanks Steve B.

:hehe: that's what I was going for... or a highlift jack or a 4x4 post with a bottle jack.

Sledge HAmmer ?

What do you guys think of the billet out put shaft? Worth the extra 600-650 bucks? Think the stock one will break with boost launches with a billet input? I wish there were some more guys around here that dealt with Dave.

Give me a call, we are an hour west of you and can do everything you want, including educate you so the next time you feel confident in tearing your own stuff apart.
It's worth the call....

I've got your flier from thompson raceway right here in front of me. What parts suppliers do you deal with? Do you install? I've seen 2 third gens around here with your sticker on their window, one a 03-05 red sport and one a silver 06 or 07.
