I was wondering if I could take the stock 12 valve pistons, and have the lip of the bowl cut out to open the bowl up? Would there be a lot more advantages, besides being able to run higher timing? Thanks

More timing or wider spray patter on the injectors, along with lower compression also. Im not a cheap bastard so I just buy marine pistons, but here is a set of stockers I did for a customer.

I wonder this also. I have been told it makes tuning easier but mine is also a commonrail compared to a p-pump engine so it's alot easier to put the fuel exactly where I want it

My friend did this for me for free on a lathe with a 4 jaw chuck. I don't know how good they will work but it was easy. If you had to pay someone it would get expensive as it took hours to do it. I would just buy pistons if I had to pay to have them done. Plus u get an engineered bowl design not a hacked piston.
