Opinions on D-Max performance please

Be careful what you wish for.

I thought I was going to stop at 500HP with Casper, but once you get going it's hard to stop. :D

PPE or EFILive are the way to go with Dmax performance, and it's where 90% of the racers end up in the long run. That is not a coincidence. I'd say 1/2 of them have BOTH.

So far the durability of the Dmax at 500HP is better than should be expected when doubling the OEM engine output. Our Blue truck (2004.5 LLY 3500SRW) has ~70k miles of abuse at high power levels and still runs great. And most folk report the same.

Rods become an issue at ~1300ftlb of torque, so tuning only trucks tend to be safe.

as for stopping at 500 hp, i'll be doing good to get enough money rounded up for a 500 hp recipe...lol...and if money suddenly presents itself then 500 will be old news...lol

hopefully i don't step on any toes here, but i plan on buying the efi live if/when i get the truck and money from mcrat racing...everyone i have talked to about mcrat has praised it on all counts and i want to get in on a learning level and eventually become a good tuner, so i think mcrat is the way i will go...

as for egt's and durability...would adding say, a garrett gt40 or comparable turbo to my previous 500 hp recipe proves disastrous for the engine or would it simply help keep things cooler?

Gt 40 should be ok with a single cp3. don't hear of motor's going south until the 2nd cp3 is installed or a large turbo. I have 220k on my truck with mods in sig. It now runs low 12's at full crewcab weight. I will build my motor this winter and am going to shoot for 10's.

is a PPE Hot + 2 something you can stack with an EFI?

No need to stack those two. You run one or the other :D

Rods won't bend until 2nd CP3 is installed, and if you are on stock head bolts, then the gaskets will probably go first.
