Heres my dilema. I currently have the 99 in my sig that I was gathering parts to P-pump it and make it a puller. It is also a 5 speed. I have a guy wanting to trade me a 03 common rail 4 door long bed auto. I have alot of the parts left over from my last 03. The truck is also an auto. My question is, which would you guys choose? Either truck will take alot of work but seems the 03+ are starting to become very competitive on the track. Oh and this is for the 2.6 class. I was brought up on mechanical diesels which is why I was going to p-pump the 99 but after working on many newer dodges and building my last 03 I'm not sure what to do. Seems that rpm's would be the killer on the 03? Let me hear your guys thoughts:thankyou2::bow:

If you decide that you want the commonrail pm me about stuff for the p pump. Looking into doing it later on down the road. Personally I like the commonrails better than a p pump but that's just me.

its a toss up. im kinda wondering which would be better also, between a ppump 24v or a 12v.

i was over at fleece the other day and they had a sigma CP3 that they were gonna put on a truck. it was a pump off like a big tug boat or something. looked pretty sick! they said its about a $6K pump.

Looking like I'm gonna try the p-pump 24 valve route... I've built everything else so this should be fun lol

If that guy is wanting to do some trading on a 2nd gen 5 speed give me his number. I have an '02 daily driver and would love to have an '03 auto for those duties.

stand alones will get pretty resonable in a few years and then you can have the extra torque and 5000 rpm!!

CR has the better block and better head. Crappy rods although some 03's did come with forged rods.

3 rd gens just look better.

Plus you can p pump the CR Ted's ran like a raped ape.

I dont get why anyone would spend 2x or 3x the money to p pump a CR...its not worth it. Just stick with a 24v and p pump that and spend the money in the head.

I think a cr that turns 4k will keep up with a 12v that turns 5k or more, its been proven..lol for the 2.6 class that is. cr more expensive to build but look good in my opinion..

if you invested the same amount of money in the p pump 24v that you would have to in a CR you would have a hell of a better puller for the price.

how do you figure its that much more money? because our injectors are expensive? the motor cost the same to build! the pumps are the same to build! the cr trucks have better drivetrain and a better head....:what:

I think hes talking if you p pumped the CR it would be much more expensive

A cr can turn 4100-4200 down the track, but with the stock ecm they won't make any power at that rpm. After about 3000-3300 rpm power falls off sharply. I'd go p-pump all the way.

is it the ecm that makes the power curve at 3000 or the cam? never knew an ecm could influence a power curve? sure it'll make it de-fuel but the smarty takes care of that problem right?

I have my old dyno graph from about 3 months ago with a diff. charger and just plain smarty on it I will post up. at 3400 the truck was still making power with a regular smarty tune, I havent gotten back on the dyno with the new charger and tnt/r.

CR already over 4000 , Smoke saw it one leave the line at 4400 , go build a good pump to turn 5k then buy a good single CP3 , been there done that my next is a CR , If it had a 6 speed and it was me I b done driving it, also u have a 5 speed hope u got 4.10s
