I've got two p-pumps I can't ID. One the tag is gone and the other the tag is unreadable. Will the delivery valve size give you an idea as to what pump it could be. One I think is a 160 and the other is suppose to be a 180.

the 180 will have 181 dvs, the 160 will have 131s. if none of them have never been changed. if you have a dial indicator you can tell the cam profile is way different between them. 180 cam goes up and down pretty quick, 160 cam goes up and stays there for a while.

It doesn't look like the paint has been broke off of either one of them. Do the DV,s have the numbers somewhere stamped on them or is there another way to ID them.

Numbers are stamped on the top of the DV, very visible once you remove the line and holder.

Don't the delivery valve take a special socket? I can probably get Kevin at NE Diesel to look at them for me, he's only 20 miles away. Thanks for the info.

If you're not worried about appearance, they can be removed with large vice grips, Channel Locks, or a pipe wrench. You also might be able to remove them with a 12 point deep 19mm to 20mm socket. The 19mm is a hair tight and the 20mm is a hair loose.
