P-pump idling high?

it will retard the timing a hair (its set at 23)...but why would that raise the idle?

how hard is it to back the gov springs off a click?

It wouldn't...that's why I said it wouldn't screw with the idle. Adjust the gov springs, and go from there.

As far as CDS's 5K having idle problems, I sure don't have any. Mine idles as good or better than my 95 with the 3K...now they might take a little tuning to get right, but they can be setup perfect;)

I know one thing..with the 5k springs it revs FAST...i can barely bump the pedal and it will shoot to just past 2k in a split second. i cant wait to see what kind of power it has...i know it sounds mean as hell with the new turbo

You can have mine in my truck and wait til yours is done to put back in mine??? LOL... Cant wait to see how your truck runs year!!!

TJ, does that thing haze like crazy at idle?? Mine does after my conversion. I think I need smaller sticks, I'm running Mach 6's converted. I have the opposite problem you have with my CDS pump and 5k's. When I first start it the truck idles fine. After I drive it a while it wants to stall at traffic lights when in gear. In park it idles at about 800.

i dunno, im too damn lazy to get down on the floor and look at the downpipe when its running...im gonna hook the exhaust up tonight I hope...then ill know how much it hazes.

I think you both have the same problem. Back them off 1 click and reset idle.

its so touchy its impossible to drive...it ust starts bucking and banging any little slop int he drive train and then you cant hold your foot steady...but it moves under its own power now, starts, and shuts down with just a simple turn of the key.

the high idle is in the idle screws and linkage tho...if i push the linkage back really hard it will settle down to 850-900 and stay there now, but only after its warm.

Warpig- with no grid heaters it hazes pretty darn good when its cold, once it got to about 150ish the haze was gone and it was clean. and god damn does it bark with a 7" stack! i hit 3500rpms coming up the driveway trying to drive it a little bit and WOW.

how many shims do you have? one wear shim and one idle shim?

How many springs do you have on your linkage? I'm running the Smokem 3k gsk in my 12v, with only one spring on the linkage, and you have to have a real steady foot to keep it smooth in the lower gears. Put another spring on the linkage, so you foot won't bounce around so much.

Welcome to the world of p-pump tuning...A good spring on the throttle return is your friend, something in the neighborhood of 12-15lbs of pressure. Keeps the foot steady.

Have fun with it TJ, they can be a mofo at times:D
