p-pumped R/T dakota

Damn, I keep forgeting the Banks truck had the engine purposly set back in the frame.

Actually, it was Diesel World. Close enough :Cheer:

Thanks for the compliments

Rob

Not a problem on the compliments... Dang, pretty sure I actually thought about buying that issue just for that article! My family vehicle is more than likely going to be a Durango with a 4b (though that article made me think about a 6b).

Garmon did one back in 02 or 03. That was a kickass ride. Dunbar used to drive it in the brackets. It would still be running around if it weren't for the damn floormat pinning the throttle on a test ride, causing a slight accident.

4bt questions

Hey guys I would like to jump in here if I could first off 6bt awsom job
I tried to message you on my-space but got no response.
I've got a 99 Dakota I'm starting on and it was going to be a 4BT but for the price people want for them it might end up being a P-pump 24V
my question is on the 4 bt timeing cover, are the rotor pumps
and the inline timeing covers different like a 12V
and does the inline 4bt and 6bt pump share the mount
where is a good place to find a inline 4BT pump
the reason I ask is you can find rotory pump motors all the time
and I wondered what all was involved in converting it to a inline pump.
Thanks

i swapped a 4bt with the rotary ve pump into a dakota. oh and i've been using the stock 5 speed that came with the old 3.9l gasser and it has held up for a year of driving daily i haven't built up my engine though just running about 150hp with free rotary pump mods.
i've been waiting to till i find a inline pump to pull my engine and strengthen it up but its hard to find them used because only about 10% of 4bts came with an inline pump and to buy the parts new from cummins it will cost you over 4000$ so its difficult to find them.
and as far as what you need to swap in the inline pump you need the pump [oviously] All the p pump components in the timing housing. new fuel lines and new injectors.

thanks for the reply I knew cummins stuf would be expensive
thats kinda of why I wondered if a guy couldn't use the timing
cover from a P-pump 12V and the injectors from the 12V should work and
maybe even some of the lines not sure thats why I wondered if anyone
has tried this?
if you don't mind me asking how did you mate the 4BT to the gas tranny?
is yours a two or 4wd do you have any pic's we could see?

I haven't had a problem finding the p-pump 4bt. What I can't do is afford the ones I see. Last one I saw had 35hr on it and they wanted $5400.
Yes, you can use all the standard 5.9 parts on the 3.9. Front cover, injectors, lines, etc etc.

Know exactly what you mean I've been shoping to for my 99 dakota
project and the money people are asking for them is stupid
If I don't find what I want I think I'll do a 24V I really didn't want
to jam one in the Dakota I wanted to make a little version of my
full size truck it really needs to have a baby brother
thats why all the 12V interchange questions you can find the VE motors
alot cheaper but by the time you find a pump and the parts I think
you'll end up having a small fortune in it:bang
