P0501 on the DRB III? Any ideas?????????????

2001 engine and pcm in a 1999 truck, customer changed a couple wires for the cam and crank sensor around and the truck starts and runs fine, but low power and wont accelerate past 2000 rpm. Any ideas.

Here are the possible causes for that code:

CAB DTC
CAB
VEHICLE SPEED SIGNAL SHORTED TO VOLTAGE
VEHICLE SPEED SIGNAL SHORTED TO GROUND
VEHICLE SPEED SIGNAL OPEN FROM CAB TO PCM
ECM
PCM

Was there any other codes?

On edit: CAB = ABS controller.

A p0501 is vehicle speed sensor performance error which basically means replace the sensor in the rear end. Not sure if this is your power problem though.

Might be torque management kicking in due to a bad sensor not showing correct MPH.
