I've got a fault code after the voltage dropped to 8v while driving the other day. Search has not revealed a definitive answer as to whether this is an alternator problem, or a battery issue. The batteries are OEM from 03, as well as the alternator. My Smarty says that it is a voltage charging problem.

What is the consensus to remedy this problem? Obviously the batteries will soon need to be replaced. I do have two Optima reds on order, but will not arrive until next week.

I know the battery temp sensor went bad in my 01 and I had charging problems. Thought it was the alternator or the batteries. Replaced the sensor and it was fine.
The code I had called out the sensor if I remember right.
