This Has Happened 3 Times This Week To Me. Someone Says They Will Sell Something To Ya, They Say Send Money Order, Or You Send Them Pms Trying To Buy Something THEY RESPOND WITH THE TOTAL AMOUNT AND ADDRESS WHERE TO SEND THE PAYMENT, And Days Go Buy And All Of A Sudden Its Sold To Someone Else. They Act Like They Are Selling To Ya Then They Stop Communication And Then Its Sold To Someone Else Wtf . If There Are Other Buyers Then You Guys Need To Say So And Say That There Are People In Front Of You That Have First Bids On The Items AND DONT SEND YOUR ADDRESS AND ASK FOR PAYMENT. The Latest Guy, And He Knows Who He Is, Sends Me His Address And Says Send A MOney Order. Well I Changed My Mind On Wht I Was Going To Buy From Him And Sent Him A Pm Stating This And He Never Writes Back. Then Today I Get A Pm Saying The One Item I Want Is Sold. So What Would Have Happened If I Had Sent The M/o??????????????????????????????????????????????? Sorry For The Rant But People On This Board Need To Get Their $hit Together And Learn.$.02$.02$.02

It goes across the board....and I don't mean Comp board!

Peoples word isn't what it used to be, look at it from a sellers standpoint, buyers saying I'll take it, I want it.....then nothing! I've had a few things for sale lately and can tell you I've had more people tell me they want it, "concider it sold" then never hear from them again then everyone else combined!

Trust me there are a lot of Sh**ty ppl out there. I had a buddy try and buy something off of here and the guy told him that his buddy would meet him in Maryland with the parts. They start to drive down there to get it, and he decides to not answer his phone and won't respond to any PM's. They decided to not drive down there to get it.

I sell alot of stuff on other boards and have gotten burned on a couple of occasions. I just have never delt with people leading you to believe that they are selling something to you and then dont respond to pm's and then they send a pm a day later saying they sold the item.

Wait...didn't you say you changed your mind anyways??? How is that different than them changing theirs? :bang

You Really Like Using The Shift Key Don't You!!

Sorry couldn't resist. Sorry 'bout your luck this week dude, I had a guy cash a check on me once and then still sell it to somebody else.

Geez that sucks. Im pretty trusting when I ship my stuff I sell. But reading these type of things always makes me think twice of shipping asap like they say they need. Havent been totally ripped off. Ripped for $80 on a cylinder head. Sorry for the bad luck man. Hope you have a good holiday!! Maybe there are lots of parts under the tree for you!

Ive been ripped of a total of about 1500 dollars on websites then I swithced to paypal, even paypal isnt 100% safe I ve had a kid get 400 doallrs from me on there only do to the fact that you mess with a computer not a real person, if anyone wants to know how they get you feel free to pm me.. I dotn like saying it becasue it almost lets people know how to rip people off.. Its bull****.

I've bought and sold on this board. I'm in process of recieving 2 items now. I've had buyers say they wanted my product and if some one else got in before them ok usually say sold or some one else is first but if I get a better deal quicker from some one else who can blame me for taking that offer? If I was to sell a vehical at work for x amount but the buyer has not payed or signed title to it and an hour later I get a better deal fir x+y amount cash on hand I will take that deal and the first customer saying that truck had been sold or what not. Sorry for rambling on. But I so aggree with you. If payment is in progress it is yours and should not be sold to another customer

Yep...same here. PM if you want details. If you take PayPal for payment ALWAYS get signature proof of delivery. And I believe if you give your word to some one it SHOULD be set in stone from that point forward. Once you go back on your word you got nuthin left...

Yea that sucks bad i don't see how people could just take somebodys money and never send the part. I couldn't do that i'm not that kind of person*bdh*

I have had good luck with the few things i have bought from internet forums so far. Bought some 12mm ARP head studs and an Exhaust housing for my HX40 recently, and didnt have any problems there.

Always make sure you know what you are getting! You need to make sure it is complete. I have been sent things that were incomplete, or missing vital parts that the seller never mentioned, and that is a low way to do business!

I also dont tell the seller its sold until i make sure I want it, and that i have agreed to the price of the item shipped. When I know I want it, I will tell them to consider it sold, and I send the money out the next day if possible.

There is no sure fire way to keep from getting scammed other than to do the transaction in person, but there are some things you can do to help keep from it.

A guy my dad works with got took for $3,000 on a zero turn mower on ebay i belive it was. Guy said he had moved out of the country and has this basically new mower sitting in a storage building at a certain location. This guy paid him for it, and has never seen a mower, or his 3k dollars again.

I was taken buy a guy who sent me the wrong turbo. I was supposed to get a nearly new HT3B and it turned into an old cat turbo. But atleast I got something. The guy isnt around anymore either!!

Buying on-line can be risky. I have done alot of buying and selling over time over many different hobbies, and had a couple of bad dealings, not enough to deter me yet.
One of the main things I look for before I buy from someone is how long they have been a member of the site. If the person just joined and is selling a real high dollar item at a great price, I am very reluctant to buy from them. I have done it, but was very scared until the transaction was complete.
One major thing I have done is quit using the USPS. Over the years they have lost 4 money orders and one package.
I try to use paypal to pay for things, and take paypal for items I am selling. I will use Fedex to ship and send money orders when I have to send a money order. UPS is on my $hit list, they seem to destroy more packages than they deliver safely. PLUS Fedex is cheaper.
NOW, that is more expensive than USPS, but when you are spending several hundred dollars, isnt the few extra bucks worth it, to have a way to track it, and have a delivery date known before you leave the shipping place? Is to me!
I think it all boils down to people just being honest and treating others the way they want to be treated. That is not as common as you would think it should be.

i only been burned on Ebay twice, but paypal got my money back

and I got burned here on this forum once - turbo not "anywhere" near the "perfect" condition it was said to be

but

I have conducted about $30,000 worth of transactions online since 2000 so not a bad record

will never use UPS or Fedex - they both rape you in brokerage and handlin fees

US Priority Mail or USPS Express Mail with tracking numbers and insurance is the only way to go and definitely the cheapest in my experience
Oh and usually faster than UPS or Fedex

WOW! You have definitely had better luck with the Postal Service than I have. Between lost stuff, and taking an EXTREME amount of time delivering things (like 45 days for 2-3 day priority package as an example) I don't think It would take more than one hand to count the times I have used them in the last 2 years because of their overwhelming incompetance.

Glad to here they are working for someone in this country.

Sorry to get off track.

I had a guy think that I was screwing him over once b/c of the USPS. Took a Bluechip FMS to the post office, paid for shipping, got a tracking # and left. Two weeks later I get a call from the guy saying he still has not recieved the box, go online check the tracking #, it says "in Transit" He says he will wait a couple more days, and if nothing would let me know. A couple days later he calls and say still nothing. I go to the post office and the package is sitting under the counter along with about 5 other packages from the same day. At least they gave me my $$ back for shipping.

from my experiance on forums and ebay i will only pay with paypal.. unless i pick the part up in person.. than cash. I had a incident on ebay with a 1500 part and the guy decided not to ship it or answer emails.. paypal refunded me all the money within 3 hours of the complaint.

Yea freakin post office took 3 weeks to deliver my cp3 pump! Ups smashes everything i ship!!! Got burned on a money order! Paypal only.
