Performance cam install questions

Ok, the arrow is for the pump gear letter. Is there a engine tag on it? Because VE's only use a B,C,E or F letter. Could be a engine that someone tried to put a VE pump on but came with a standyne or lucas pump.

If the cam is currently still in the engine, why not just rotate it so the 0 on the crank and the 00 on the cam match up, then mark it with paint pen or what have you on the gears so you can reinstall it the same way? Should be no reason to be turning the pump or the engine when you have the cam out, so everything should be the same. And if something does move, thats why you put marker on the gears before you pulled it.
 
I love it when p-pump guys jump into the VE world. Letter E on the pump gear is the stock timing mark. Letter C is what we refer to as one tooth advanced.
