finally!!!!

i got the cable routed to my pre boost screw, i must say it worked out perfect! put a hole about an inch to the right of the pedal bracket on the firewall, on the right side of the gas pedal. the long (36") flexible (McMaster-carr) cable is too long to mount in the dash, so it works out perfect to mount right along side the 4 wheel drive lever. im mounting mine to the plastic console of my 5 speed shifter with an L shaped bracket rivited to the plastic, auto guys can use the plastic cover of the 4 wheel drive lever

roughly 1/2" hole in firewall, i will be filling this with a rubber grommet to seal it

this is where the cable ends, im making an L bracket to rivet to the console, then mount the cable into with the locking nuts behind the knob. then i will make something to keep the knob locked so it oesnt vibrate loose

the straighter you make the cable the easier it turns the screw, how mine is set up is as close to a straight shot as possible and it has very little resistance.

for you guys who want to try this i say go for it!!! just drill the 1/2 hole and bingo instant adjustment! you can tune and re tune in the same stretch of highway!!!

I always wanted to try one of these plumbed in before the AFC.

The pre boost screw isn't something I need to dink with often, so I don't think I'd go through that much trouble for it.

i use it as a tuning device, if you want to make smoke with it....be my guest but i wouldnt tell everybody else

I don't see the need to mess with it near enough to go through the trouble.

Unless you wanted a smoke switch...

it was quite simple.....drill one hole, tighten two set screw

power makes smoke, i dont need to make it on the bottom.

plus i like to adjust to the weather, 90 degrees one day and the 60^ the next will effect bottom end smoke

bump back to top, in weather changing climates this works very well keeping your truck tuned

there are more than a few people having goo luck being able to fine tune to the weather or temperature. i use mine everyday

the long (36") McMaster-carr 5910K93

or 36" 3127K24- cheaper but less bend radius - it will work in my setup though

2577K18 knob number

this is the only thing i found searchin the interwebs that would bolt on directly

other folks have used speedo cables etc....

the one from mcmaster carr goes right onto the preboost screw and is held with a set screw

Now thats pretty cool, any more into depth pictures if possible? dide you take the nut off the back that holds the pre boost screw in place? (sorry if that was a dumb quuestion)

yes i did remove the nut, there really arent any more in depth pics to take

drill one hole in the firewall, tighten the set screw on the pre boost screw - mount the cable in your cab.......

I could definitely see the use of this thing for us folks running large singles. Might have to rig one up.

um this is part of tuning the afc....this just makes it so you dont have to stop and open the hood :poke:

I see no reason to adjust that screw all the time...I've driven anything from stock chargers to 75mm singles without needing to adjust the pre-boost screw more than once or twice.

i dont adjust it everyday, but it does need adjusted for the weather (i do drive mine year round) air density makes a big difference

for as easy as it was to hook up, its kind of a no brainer if ya got a few extra dollars and like a perfect setiing all the time
