I haven't hooked to a sled yet and before I do I am wondering if I should run 4H or 4L and if I should leave shifter in 1 2 od off?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i pull 4 low. shift from first to second. 33in tires, 4:10s. sometimes third on accident

I run 4 low 2nd gear converter locked 35in tires and 3:73 gears

4 low, 2nd gear, converter locked as soon as you get spooled and it shifts to 2nd gear. You might be able to pull 3rd on a loose track, or light sled, but if you have 3:55's, its very doubtful.

The past couple years I have pulled in 4low 3rd gear with 285 mud terrians and 3.55 gears. Twice I let it hit OD and won both times.

I would have to see video of that. Were you in mud or sand?

My cousin "Teddy Bear" on here took 8th place in 2.6 at Scheid Diesel Extravaganza last year running 2nd gear with 3:55's. His truck wouldnt pull 3rd gear with 3:55's. It would try, but wouldnt hold 3rd even when he was overfueled with a stock charger. He now runs 3rd with 4:88's.

It was on good clay tracks.

OD was with stock turbo, but I have been able to hold 3rd gear with a 62/71/14. I'll get a video up when I fig out to post it.

With a S400 Le Rae is hitting 3rd gear unlocked with 3.55's, 285's & duals.

I run 4.88's, and 3rd gear locked with a 3.0 Charger.

I have seen VP trucks run 3rd gear with the smaller chargers.

Yep, we are holding 3rd gear no problem with a S400 and 3.55's. She hasn't tried locking it yet though.

What converter is that with if your not locking it up, must have decent fluid coupling and be loose enough to light an S400.

dont see why you guys pull in 4 low, the planitaries get smaller the higher gear you are in, i would think you would want 4hi and 1st or second gear? or is it because of the lock up in the converter?

The planetaries aren't the weak link.

transmissions cost more than t-cases. i would rather pull low and bust up a t-case than put the stress on the trans running high range and bust it up.

I've always pulled 4lo 2nd gear on mine, but that was with stock turbo and injectors... I still don't think I can pull 3rd low, but what do you guys think? 3.55's 305/70-16 BFG AT's...

It'll be on a track this weekend notorious for being tight and breakin stuff...

kinda what i was thinking blown, but im no super duper puller either just done it a couple times and have had good luck with hi range letting the trans do its thing...
