Pulling with an auto

With a S400 Le Rae is hitting 3rd gear unlocked with 3.55's, 285's & duals.

I run 4.88's, and 3rd gear locked with a 3.0 Charger.

Unlocked is a lot different from locked though. MUCH easier to keep a turbo lit doing it that way. I would imagine my truck would run 3rd if i wanted to leave it unlocked.

And 4:88's are a huge difference from 3:55's.

Teddy Bear runs 3rd locked with a 2.6 charger with no problems at all, but it wouldnt run 3rd with 3:55's locked. Thats a lot of gear.

I can maybe see 3rd locked on a loose track with a small charger and plenty of fuel, but it would have to be loose.
