question about my motor

I recently purchased an 05 cummins motor or at least I thought I did. The motor came out of an 05 truck but the build date on the motor says 1/09/04. On the valve cover the rate hp is 325. My question is do I and 04, 04.5, or and 05 motor???
 
you tried to help! lol! I already stated that in the first post. So is this motor an 04.5 or 05? dodge cant help me and im waiting for cummins to return my call.
 
but the build date would be a 04? thats weird... but if it says 325 then yes its a 04.5, i think the build date is a 6.1.04 or after to be a 325 but who knows..
 
It is probably an 04.5 motor since it was made in 04. If it was an early 04 motor it would have a build date of 6-1-03 to 12-31-03. The 04.5 motors build date would be 1-1-04 to 5-31-04. I could be wrong but thats how it usually goes.

yeah I dont know what I was thinking they wouldnt build the motors and trucks and sell them a day later....lol

The engine in my 3500 was built on 6/26/04 and the truck is an 04. The engine in my brother's 2500 was built on 8/3/04 and the truck is an '05.

To the OP. Beings it's a 325hp engine you most likely have an 04.5. If the 10th digit of the vehicle identification number (vehicle the engine came out of) is a 4 it's considered an '04-HO ('04.5)...if it's a 5, then you have an '05.
